I found the sound of an F1 car at full chat painful I watched Mansell doing some demo laps at Brands in an F1 Renault turbo, what a row and not at all pleasant, I am sure it would not degrade the sport immersurably if they were to silence the cars down a bit.

Noise Warning - Snetterton
Just a quick point about 'Noise' from a Enviromental Scrutineer's point of view (i'm not an Enviromental Scrutineer, but have assisted some for my Training), Snetterton have really clamped down on 'Noise' (which isn't a surprise) and have seen quite a number of competitors fail noise - which is upsetting for all concerned.
So if you are due to race at Snetterton, or any other Circuit come to that, in the near future, please make sure your Car is within the permitted 'Noise' limits, otherwise you'll be asked to make your car quieter. We want to see you racing, not going backwards and forwards to the Paddock trying to make the car quiet!!!!! |

I have just fitted a whopping great transverse silencer (here: http://store.summitracing.com/largei...lk-17227_w.jpg ) on my car as I got fed up with failing or being marginal and having to fit Supertrapps to get a race, happy to report it has done the trick (I hope, not been scrutinised yet!)unfortunately I won't be able to make snett this weekend now which is a shame as I like the circuit and am really looking forward to the improvements if and when they happen.

Plans have gone through the local Parish Council without any issues - the new banking to run from the entrance gate around to Corum also went through. This looks like being an excellent viewing spot - nearly as good as the old Esses Grandstand. I think they need to build this within about 12 weeks after full planning permission re the noise abetment order.

Hi - They are not changing Russell now - just a small change to Sear and the new infield loop between Riches and Sear to enable use of small test track - although will be used for some big meetings I think

Looks like Snett is doin gthe right thing in keeping local residents updated with levels of expected noise - this should help to keep them happy, hopefully to help with moving the planning approval on

Really, I like the look of the new layout especially as it has some nice left handers not just right handers (drive a left hooker you see!)

I did hear a rumour when I was a Snetterton a couple of weeks ago, that the plans had changed, and that Russells is to stay the same as it is now, so no new cut back, and the only changes to the track are for the Race School at Sear....
Like i say, it's just rumour though.... |

Based on the plans summitted to the council it does look like Russell will not be changed for a few reasons - additional speed into Riches, objection by the "big" teams who use the circuit for testing - did not like new format and prefer Russell, and the additional noise generated by the corners in the sensitive East side of the circuit.
It's a shame the new high banking at Sear will not be ready for spectators for the BTCC - they keep piling on more soil - will soon be able to Brands as well !!! |

As far as i know Al, the only changes will be at Sear with the Race School and planned track changes there....

Is there a layout anywhere on the net we can look at?
BTW the new silencer system on my black car really worked well in fact so quiet at Oulton they did not even bother to test it and just waved me through but were testing others! So i guess it proves you can get these things to run quite if you really have to. |

Snetterton redevelopment
HOORAY,
just noticed that thers been a change to page 7 of the plans submitted by the architects,Fielden and Mawson,in that the "loop" at Russell has disappeared! Does this mean the only changes will be at the Riches/Sear end? Would be great IMHO, as it would leave space inside circuit for camping. AND,it would be more likely that changes could be made over winter. I DO HOPE that i'm right, otherwise I shall have to eat much humble pie. Regards to all. |
