Got to love EJ - in the BBC forum they were all talking about one team blocking the bringing in of larger brake pads but no names said - EJ tries to whisper to someone and says straight into mic "Williams" rest of team try and not laugh!

Mark Webber crashed but, scandalously, he deliberately ran across a big runoff area and crashed under a crane well off the track tut tut.

Webber seems to be unhappy about having to swap position with Alonso and Glock.

What's wrong with that? I say good on him for having the balls to give credit to the man that discovered him and made him the superstar that he is today

Why? Briatore and Alonso are friends and have enjoyed a very successful working relationship.

I don't see the problem from Webber's point of view. In Valencia he was straight on the radio asking for Button to move over. The difference is that Button didn't gain a position, rather didn't lose it. Here he had to give up two places, unfortunate, but living by his own request. They needed to get Webber behind Alonso and Alonso behind Glock. The later had already happened.

I do have a problem overall. I don't think Button should have given up the place in Valencia, and I think Webber was OK here too.

I was thinking back to that race too.

Webber didn't hesitate to tell his team that Button should give him the position back.Button didn't seem to have any choice but to cut the chicane since Webber had pretty much forced him to take that route anyway.

rallycrosscraig has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
the most boring 2 hours ever, how can it be called a race when its impossible to overtake, going off line = dust/marbles/debris so how is anyone going to overtake?

a waste of 2 hrs of everyones viewing time.

They should make the track anything up until the barriers. That'll solve the inconsistency and also make it a proper street circuit.

Webber moved out to make a pass on the outside, Alonso stuck to his line as he was entitled to do and Webber had to drop back behind Alonso or run off the outside of the corner. On many tracks Webber would have found himself on grass, lost traction and ended up behind anyway, this is how it is supposed to work. Instead Webber put all four wheels off the track onto the tarmac run off (no grass here) and passed Alonso. To me this was absolutely clear - a place gained by putting all four wheels off the track, had he not dropped back he would quite rightly have got a drive through. If we are to have a semblance of fairness in formula 1 we need to see the rules enforced properly and not a return to some of the daft penalties we have seen in the past but this was a clear case of asking a driver to give back an advantage gained illegally, although it was unfortunate that Glock passed Alonso before Webber gave the place back.

I am inclined to agree but of course if they did that there would be no run off and the health and safety police would shut the circuit down.

Real shame is with the track that way it was being so dirty, the racing was largely non existent!

When you see Rosberg struggling to pass a car he is probly 2 secs a lap faster then you know its bad.

New rules, same old lack of passing! (some places)

Unlikely, since they would be unwilling to ever leave their homes, never mind venture out into something so inherently dangerous as an automobile or an aeroplane.

I figure the source of Mark Webber's sense of lack of justification was more the inconsistency of penalties, using the good example of Raikkonen's La Source move.
