@Maelochs
Regarding balance, I'm hoping that IMSA won't constantly update every race. Yet again, I don't want to see and hear prototypes having the same performance such as torque, etc. |

DPi = not too good, but nowhere near as bad as it could have been.

Yes, let's name it after a race that it cannot compete in in the same spec as it does in America.

Just call it prototype. PC is prototype challenge. Should be PS- prototype spec then GT and GTA (amateur). They gotta put in daytona for some reason. Probably because it likens itself to NASCAR, not because it runs at the track, imo.

I think IMSA has already said the top class will be called Prototype, just like it is now with DP and P2 cars, but next year the DPi term would just be used to differentiate from the ACO P2 cars which are also in the Prototype class. I don't think they'd use PS for anything because it sounds too much like BS

Anyway it's the same with LMP3s. They're origin is the ACO and Le Mans rules packages. That is where the DPis coming from. Whether they race there or not, the origin of the car is Le Mans. For shortening purposes, the LM is often dropped and cars get called P1 and P2. So this case they'd get shortened to Prototype America. That's kinda cool. |

Seems like its time for Mr. Atherton to write another half-million dollar check to some firm to devise a class name, just as he wrote one for series name and logo that were never used after the first race where it is introduced.

Fake outrage is the best outrage.

GTLM = GTE, except for the cars that aren't. GTD = GT3, except for the cars that aren't. And that's fine. It doesn't need to be an exact copy. But the BMW will most likely never see Le Mans, yet it's in a GT Le Mans class. So what's the problem with a LMP-A? That the cars won't race at Le Mans? Well they're more Le Mans based than the BMW GTLM Car. Of course it's just all a name, so really not important and in this case, completely opinion. I just don't like the idea of renaming the entire thing from a Le Mans Prototype to a Daytona Prototype, when the core is still a Le Mans Prototype. Credit when it's due, etc. |

Do you guys think there is any chance that IMSA goes with DPi Pro/Am to replace PC. Shank and AXR already fit the needs with Pew/Curran. Starworks bought a Riley. CORE & PR1 have looked at the step up to P2 in the past. This idea could also attract Krohn, Brown, and Ricardo Gonzalez back to the US and makes more sense for WEC/ELMS Pro/Am teams to do the 36 Hours of Florida.

No LMPC will be there in 2030, with Frankenstein Orecas in some "EVO" form or whatever, because they are too scared to hurt anyones feelings.
Anyway artificial Pro/Am sub classing for same cars is just as bad, and has spread like cancer, so I don't hope for that either. |

So, even IF ACO would accommodate an IMSA car with FIA bodywork, how would an all pro driver line-up work?

(* for LM only- I seriously doubt the ACO will let the Nissan 'P1' in after last year's debacle for example.) |
