Raikkonen is on the cusp of being able to take Ricardo Patrese's record gap between GP wins. Ricardo went 99 GP's between wins (1983 South African GP to Imola 1990.)
Kimi is currently 98 races on from his win in Australia 2013. |

Hope so. Raikkonen qualifies P1, with Vettel P2.
At the start of the race, KR jumps SV and is leading the race comfortably, exactly as he did at last years Monaco GP, heading towards his first win since R1 in 2013..... oh wait hang on... where did KR finish that race again? |

Leclerc’s a star. Great drive. Nice work by Sainz as well. Another good result gone begging for Grosjean, and Alonso is up there at the end there again.

Very impressed with Leclerc. OK, he inherited 3 places, but he drove a good sensible race while others lost their heads....

Coupled to his qualy performance yesterday he was a star today. Regardless of the inherited places he would still have finished in the points. As it was he finished ahead of Alonso.

What do people make of VanDoorne? He was 'the next big thing' according to McLaren but he's not really shone so far - ok so some of that is car related but is he doing enough to justify his seat? This weekend he was nowhere near Alonso in qualifying and then in the race finished behind Alonso despite Alonso racing with a damaged floor all afternoon. You get the impression that if Alonso left then McLaren would be in big trouble (much like Williams are now without Massa).

I don’t think Stoffel is rubbish, but he’s probably more the Perez, Hulkenberg level as opposed to a Verstappen/Ocon next big thing type of guy. He’ll be solid and have a decent career, much depends how the McLaren improves. He has no better driver in F1 to learn from either, so that should hold him in good stead.

The question is, would someone like Ocon or Wehrlein do any better than Vandoorne compared to Fred?

might be a bit harsh to say, but after this race i have more questions about Grosjean then anyone else on the grid.
at what point does Haas start thinking replacement? after LeClerc's showing in Baku and presumably Giovinazzi waiting in the wings somewhere i think they have to make a switch sooner rather than later imo. |

Leclerk's standing must be on the up after Baku and Grosjean's rock bottom. I was impressed by him for a while and thought that he might make it this time, but I'm having serious doubts now. Having said that, I was a fan of young Max but this season, as has been said elsewhere in the subforum, he needs to get his act together or he could find himself relegated to second fiddle at RBR.... Right now, if I was in Horner's shoes, I'd be seriously tempted to put my money on Daniel.

Grosjean was searching for anything to use an excuse. Poking his head inside the cockpit after getting out, looking where the steering wheel went, hoping to find something. Blaming Ericsson, etc... He's one of about 7 or 8 drivers that are entirely replaceable and don't serve much purpose other than grid filler.
I thought there was some great racing between verstappen and ricciardo. Most of it very fair. I just finished the race and haven't read the race thread yet, but I didn't see too much to blame one more than the other, except for a little too much weaving, blocking the fateful move by ricciardo. Verstappen has always been an aggressive defender, if that is a term, and maybe overall is a little more "jarring" in all aspects of his driving than the typical f1 driver. His passes are often spectacular, often slim to no chance, his defending is often spectacular and often too much, bordering on dangerous. He's definitely exciting, and I hope as the rough edges smooth out, he still maintains his great talent. How about Hartley with a nice finish in the race? I'm happy for him. |

Apparently Grosjean accidentally flicked a switch on a steering wheel while warming his tyres...

The telling thing is during the grid walk, the commentator asked Magnussen if he was having any issues with his brakes this week like his teammate, and Magnussen just casually said no, everything is fine on my side. After 3 years, it is obvious it isn't the car that keeps leading to these issues Grosjean is having. He can't wrap his head around that, ajd is now just driving head first into walls under yellow? Why are we wasting our time at this point?

F1 driver rankings for Azerbaijan. Bottas jumps 8 spots from China to go to the top.
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/f...-the-top-.html Now we wait for the questions on how someone who finished 14th in the race could possibly be ranked #1? Or how someone who DNF'd be rated 4th best? |

If you read the guide to what the ranking is, it is the average of the last three races. Come on F1Guy, try a bit harder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Because it wasn't Bottas fault he dropped down to 14th perhaps?
