However unless they cover a broad spectrum they will struggle to attract sufficient customers for their product. The down-side however is that by coveing lots of aspects of "club motorsport" they fail to attract the enthusiasts as their coverage will be superficial and sporadic. |

I can't get it in Moscow anyway. But if we're all fired up about supporting this type of venture why don't you all support a web based mag that could run as (say) 10/10s motorsport. An annual subscription together with a few members providing reports on a weekly basis and those members who are professionals could contribute the specialist articles. Same thing really but people won't go for that anymore than they'll go for the mag. It maybe just doesn't grab the imagination. |

Well said Andy.
Thats a fair enough idea Peter so why not suggest it to the 10/10ths people that we have a purely news forum that welcomes posts from whoever and can also include uploaded video etc. I mean CTRCC has a good site but no one ever bothers to write a report apart from a guy called Micheal Leete who has a blog page and links it to the club forums and quite good it is too, lets see more of this. We had it. It was even on radio, but clearly nobody knew about it even though we advertised it on the forums (fora?).
I should go on to say that I'm not unhappy with FT (that's Full Throttle), I just see this as being a bit cynical. If it can't support itself it clearly must go and for all the enthusiasm displayed here I think you'll find its a lack of interest that's causing the problem. BTW, did anyone notice the Vee article by Suze? Last edited by Peter Mallett; 14 Jul 2007 at 14:18. |

This is the reply I have had from Full Throttle and their future didtribution plans:
"Hi Andy Yes we are now selling FT magazine with Practical Performance Car.It will mean a much smaller FT magazine but with a much bigger distribution and readership. Regards Kevin Leaper MD Blockhead Media Ltd" Must admit to being a bit worried by this approach, How long before its "PPC incorporationg Full Throttle"? And we all know what happened when Autocar incorporated Motor, Car incorporated Performance Car and something else that I can't rember incorporated RallySport. I'll still look out for the combined mag, though, amd give it a chance. |

That is not at all good IMO and confirms Peter's stance. As you I will buy the next copy but will not now take out a subscription as I may well have done, its called 'lack of confindence in my investment', not good sorry.

Because the only place I get time to read in depth is in the bath, and my laptop screen steams up and the keys go manky. |

Good point and apart from that its nice to relax away from a computer screen (he says with over 4600 posts on this site alone!) sometimes and read a bit of hard copy.

It's not as easy to light the fire with a bit of laptop. Much easier with a discarded magazine/newspaper.
But alas, in this digital age, more people are reading the internurd than buying the comics, and mobile internet to phones/pda's etc will spell even more trees being saved. I can see it now, there will be protests from skint lumberjacks, who are not OK, and can no longer afford women's clothing, all because we spend so much time reading the plinkty plonkty screen. |

Very true, but you can download articles amd print them for later reading if you want to save those lumberjacks.

I spend all day sitting at computer screen and do not wish to do so in my leisure time (apart from this forum!). Reading long articles on a computer is not always easy or natural for most either, hence the reason why a lot of people do print things off at work to read at their desk - the paperless office does not exist for the vast majority.
I actually enjoy the old fashioned activity of reading a book or magazine in the bathroom, in bed or in the conservatory - Computer based stuff is OK for short newsy type articles such as on the Autosport web site or the BBC news one but not for in depth feature articles and I would not subscribe to one. IMHO. I'm sure that I'm a luddite and the youth of today will put me in a museum one day. Perhaps things will change for todays technology wired kids and the time for an on line magazine will come, but have you ever actually tried to read anything useful from a Blackberry? I also agree that the magazine format has many advantages over the internet. |

Wot a rip-off!
Well I got the latest PPC and Full Throttle this morning and I think I might have been better off flushing the £4.20 down the toilet! What a con!
PPC follows its usual dire format with badly captioned photos and 38% of its content being taken up with adverts. As for the "FREE Magazine" FULL THROTTLE this is a meagre 52 pages of which no less than 25 are adverts! I for one will NOT be buying this publication again as I have better things to do with my money! |

Don't you love it when a plan comes together?
FWIW I do think its a shame but maybe we do get too much info from the interweb. |

I think, and may be wrong, FT magazine when it was on it's own had a very high level of adverts too.....what was the actual FT bar the adverts like?

I quite liked it & thought that it had a more "grown up" approach than some. I don't think that it had any higher proportion of adverts than any other car mag, from TRC to Motorsport

I'm sure FT will continue and I sincerely it does.
I hope that the pictures of my ugly mug in it this month helps it too, it will certainly increase it's circulation in the Marshall family this month!! From the discussions I had with them there are a great bunch of people and are working hard at making it a success, so good luck to them. |
