The thing holding me back getting a Prius was always the high speed cornering ability. No longer.

If you've time and interest for it, next time you can spot an actual Toy' you'll see that most if not all models have "winglets" which are part of the tail lights. More evident here: https://jceracing.com/spyder-toyota-...seq-c-5087805/
Of course, nothing to see with the new "Segway light" badged Toyota here. |

So that thing somehow holds a branch to prevent falling and cuts it at the same time? I have not seen one of those in an urban environment before. Don't think anyone around here has one, we all just use cranes and separate guy on a bucket

We sometimes have cherry pickers for that, but normally it's just a tree climber that does the job. Possibly forest managers may have them, but I certainly have never seen one.

The cherry pickers seem to be less common these days. This company has lots of climbers, but this is the first time I've seen one of these used in person. Pretty damn impressive. |

Also impressive is the machines used by professional loggers working with trees such as spruces. Just one machine fells the tree, then strips it of it's branches before depositing the trunk on a trailer. All in the blink of an eye - well OK, not quite so quick, but no more than a couple of minutes.

Crane spotting is back. They are impressive machines. I’ve been to digger world and done some great digging. There should be lumberjack world. You could use these great machines, sing songs and swing your big axe.

Yeah, grapple cranes are becoming a bigger and bigger thing in the industry, climbing is on its way out as standard practice and PPE seems to be driving some of that change. Think the EU/UK now require chainsaw pants at all times and think they have booted out chaps, the US guys are slowly moving to the pants in the tree but wear them in summer heat and you'll find out quick climbers can get a half day at most. Generally chaps were only groundie and cutting logs over climbers. Grapple also limits the risk lower trunk failure when you load the fiddleblock at the top of the pole, having seen more than a few trees crack at the base rigging big limbs it's definitely a plus for rotten or broken trunks, even if the climber isn't tied to the tree they're cutting.
Those who aren't going grapple are going man lift and some of those spiders are 150' boom and can go almost level, it's freaking watching this tiny thing unfold and get someone that far. |

Saw this in Spain today.... a Mega Tjaffer. I recognised certain Citroen parts. Maybe Gerard knows more about it. I have never seen or even heard of one before.

Oh and this was quite weird. Diesel engine and cruising round town.
Oh and ATVs in full camo nets and ready for the Duck hunt seem popular this year Last edited by E.B; 16 Aug 2023 at 20:25. |

EB, your Mega thingy was said to be a kind of new Mehari. Can't see if it has rear seats and don't know about the spanish regulation about "cars" you can drive without licence tho. May be they are preparing something for the '24 WEC, a good challenger for Ligier/Lamborghini! Did you spot a stupid driver with a stupid smile on his stupid face named Romain? Aixam and Mega merged a while ago:https://www.mega-vehicules.com/ They are dangerous on open roads IMO and get a bad and deserved reputation being so slow and priced as the real thing. Good for teenagers and normal people having lost their driving licence…

We have this kind of crap almost in every touristic area (hence the word "tourista" may be?) but now seem to be replaced, at least in Paris, by electric tuk-tuks. Yoy can't stop the progress…
https://www.paris-by-tuktuk.com/?gcl...BoCXBAQAvD_BwE For tourists only because the riders can't speak a dam word of french, typical parisian insults apart! |
