This was just posted on the V8ST and V8 Challenge Cup Facebook pages regarding the NZV8's:
"An entirely new Board of directors has been overwhelmingly elected to NZ Vee Eight Entrants Group Ltd, the company representing the interests of NZV8 race car owners. The previous directors stood down at the company’s AGM on 9th December and did not offer themselves for re-election. The new Board comprises prominent long-term motor racing identities, Greg Lancaster and Lyall Williamson along with current V8 Challenge Cup Co-ordinator, Stephen Gillard. They have been charged with: 1. Negotiating a multi-year agreement with V8 SuperTourers for NZV8s to be a major support category for V8 SuperTourers; 2. Ensuring parity between NZV8 cars; 3. Significantly reducing the cost of competing in NZV8s; and 4. Producing a long term category plan for consideration by NZV8 shareholders by 31 May 2013. New Chairman, Greg Lancaster has spelt out the new Board’s prime aims as a re-emergence of major Tier 1 race meetings and to see NZV8s resume its original role as a high profile, but significantly lower cost, support race category. The new Board has today concluded an agreement with V8 SuperTourers Ltd that will cement a mutually beneficial relationship which will see NZV8s become a major support category to V8 SuperTourers. “Concurrently with reaching the agreement with V8 SuperTourers, communication with shareholders is being addressed, commencing with them being canvassed for their views on performance parity and competition costs reduction” said Lancaster. Lancaster also outlined the exacting deadline for adoption by NZV8 shareholders of a new business plan by the end of May 2013. He does however, not expect to see significant change on track until the later meetings of 2013 and with the first fruits of the new business plan in 2015. “We are, after all, only three weeks out from the first outing of 2013 at Teretonga” said Lancaster. As part of the arrangements agreed with V8 SuperTourers today, all VEEGA’s legal proceedings have been resolved with immediate effect. V8 SuperTourers has thanked the new Board for renewing relations between the two categories. “We look forward to working together for the good of the sport” says V8 SuperTourers Managing Director, Mark Petch. “NZV8 is delighted to have established this rapport with V8 SuperTourers who are leading New Zealand motorsport into a new era” says Lancaster. “The founders of V8 Supertourers have done a remarkable job to develop their idea from the drawing board to what we see today in only two years and their efforts have dramatically raised the profile of V8 racing in this country. Their efforts have hugely benefitted New Zealand motorsport”. |

It does leave MSNZ in an interesting position as it appears that the NZV8 Series has decided to move across to ST as a support category. Where does that leave MSNZ and their promoted NZV8s? Maybe this is finally enough of a message to get MSNZ out of trying to be involved in the commercial promotion of the sport and stick to what they should be doing - governance, regulation and administration. |

I read that as them working towards all NZV8 rounds - or most of them - being run at V8ST events. The way being cleared for common sense after the previous incumbents resigned from the VEEGA board.
So NZV8s as we know it is dead, or dying, and will in time become the major support class for V8ST. Suspect Inky won't be carrying NZV8 signage on his car for too much longer lol. Well done V8ST. Common sense prevails and the competitors who own the cars can look ahead and see light at the end of the tunnel. |

actually one more thing, what does this mean for the TV package?
Now i realise the TRS etc will still be screened on Prime/Sky (which based on an ad i saw last nite is supposed to kick off today??? yet i can't find any listings on sky....) But with the NZV8's going to ST, one would assume that TV3 will automatically pick up those rights as part of their agreement to screen challenge cup? |

In relation to what has just gone on with the above media release, I thought it somewhat revealing to read the President of MSNZ's Christmas message released today.
I thought that MSNZ was meant to have a constitutional obligation to encourage and support participation in the sport on an implied non-partisan basis. However the message (below) doesn't even mention ST in his review of the year - as if they don't exist. Irrespective of whether you support ST or not they have been a significant participant in the sport this year and to totally ignore them paints a pretty clear picture of attitudinal issues within MSNZ. Christmas is just around the corner, so hopefully everyone has a chance to put their feet up and reflect on another fantastic year in motorsport. A lot has happened in 2012, with some extraordinary achievements from Kiwi drivers – notably young Mitch Evans winning the GP3. The Summer Series is now finalised and guaranteed to be a brilliant spectacle. Headlined by the NZV8s and TRS again, there’s a wide range of support categories, designed to appeal to everyone’s interests. The all-new TLX car is set to dazzle V8 fans, while the TRS will be another fiercely contested championship, with reigning champ Nick Cassidy returning to defend his title. There’s more detail in this month’s issue. Sky TV and Prime deals have been secured for the TRS and NZV8s, so fans who can’t make it trackside, can see the action from the comfort of their homes. Each round of the TRS and NZV8s will broadcast on SKY TV on the following Friday and Sunday evenings, respectively. Prime will also screen ‘free-to-air’ coverage during the subsequent weekends. Also next month is the NZ Festival of Motor Racing – a huge weekend for historic racing, celebrating the life of Denny Hulme, one of NZ Motorsport’s greats. Momentum is building for a stronger showing of women in motorsport, with a group meeting last month to discuss ways on increasing participation. There seems to be a perception that motorsport is just a ‘boys’ club’; however, women already play a huge role in our sport, so we’re encouraging more to get involved. The Hill Climb season continues to shine; this time a huge congratulations goes out to the Gisborne Car Club for putting on a fabulous weekend. I look forward to seeing how the next event pans out in Bay of Plenty. I am hearing some stories around car development for next year’s rally championship, so it will be interesting to see what comes out to compete. Member Clubs should have also received the first report on the Governance Review and I encourage everyone to provide feedback, with their ideas and views. This review should determine the future governance model of our sport for a number of years, so it’s extremely important that you contribute and let the review panel know what you think. I hope everyone has a relaxing Christmas period with their family and friends, and I hope to catch up with you at one of the many events in the new year. Shayne Harris, President |

completely agree Roger, without launching into a full scale attack, within this current administration there is obviously some individuals who hold a strong bias against V8ST. It is disappointing that the presidents message awkwardly avoids mentioning V8ST in any capacity, as I personally feel that it is probably the most publicly recognised category in NZ motorsport at this point in time.
But then again, I didn't expect any different. |

I think his ignoring V8ST is just plainly ridiculous? You would have to say his feet are firmly planted on one side of the fence, and that is poor form IMO.
