Maybe they should do it in steps:
SZ15 - first step down to - 100 kmh SZ16/SZ17 - place of accident - 60 kmh But how do you mark it? With traffic sign with speed camera? |

Indeed, the idea with slow zones is good, but it has some obvious obstacles. Could possibly be monitored with clearly defined lines/markers at the track where every zone starts (it already is with the lights) and have race control be able to real time access to car telemetry such as speed and position. A program could then clearly calculate if any car slowed down too late.
Anyway, another reason why they throw FCY instead of slow zone (I'm guessing) is because often they have more then just one matter they want to resolve. Sure, FCY might be thrown for a specific accident, but they usually also want to clear debris at other parts of the track at the same time. |

The ACO are supposed to have GPS to monitor speeds like the FIA/FOM do for F1, but as of COTA, not even the WEC got it right for FCYs. Not to mention that drivers like Webber have commented since Nurburgring that not all cars are doing the speed limit--some are exceeding it by a noticeable amount, some are sometimes significantly below it.

I thought in F1 they have a limiter from the pits/garages for the code 60 or VSC? They could invest in putting the same limiter in every car, I wonder if that's possible? That way it'd keep the speeds equal at least.

Webber to retire at the end of the season.
Not totally unexpected but still a bit shocking. http://www.racer.com/wec-le-mans/ite...he-end-of-2016 |

Common ECU in F1, but not in LMP1 I think. But it would solve it.
