It is fantastic to see what appears to be a genuine effort to get Dome more involved in ACO racing. I thought they were done a couple of years ago, as things were looking dire. Always had a soft spot for them. Great to see passion fuelling the desire to get Le Mans as a constructor still lives in the hearts of some. I wish them all the best. Hopefully Henri can rise from the ashes one last time as well...

Dome had tested Pescarolo's dimple rear wing by CFD.
Dome explains that it becomes possible to make the height of the Gurnee flap behind a dimple low, thanks to a dimple. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 26 Dec 2012 at 11:30. |

Sorry.
It is right "to set down the angle of gurney flap" behind a dimple, not to make the height of gurney low. |

Regarding the dimples on the rear wing: look at the very bottom of the page http://www.mulsannescorner.com/RCELeMans2011.html

Car Graphic magazine reports interview to Hiroshi Fushida.
Dome will not participate in 2013 LM24. So we will not see Dome car at Sarthe. However Dome is continuing the basic R&D for 2014 regulations by wind tunnel. |

Makes sense. Why concentrate on developing a car for a year when the regs will simply change next year? Hopefully a nice, long development period will yield some good results!

The S102.5 is basically race ready as it is, and with a proper engine should be able to keep up with HPD, OAK and Lola. |

So ... the outcome of allowing engineers to develop and innovate is that people get pimples. Hmmm.

Pimple wing - love it!
This means that Rebellion will run Lolas. Its a huge shame that Dome's plans did not come off the S102 is still in my opinion the best of the non works LMP's, indeed I think it is a match for them. Dome's engineering ability is second to none and they never get the chance to show it fully. |

Dome S103 in 2014. Not sure if LMP1 or LMP2:
http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...nce-15933.html Model hopefully shown in 3 months time. In English: apparently not lmp1 or 2, but both! http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...cus-15937.html Last edited by vincegail; 18 Feb 2013 at 10:40. Reason: Added the link to English article |

Well that is really good news. Is that the first opportunity for privateers to continue in P1?

Great news! In my mind the S102.5 was almost on par with the factory efforts but held back by a sub-par engine, Dome is a very capable race car constructor!
I like hte last sentence: "DOME is now working on LMP1 & 2 projects and we'll be more than happy to supply LMP cars to teams." Hopefully that applies to both LMP1 and 2, they haven't really wanted to supply their chassis to other privateers before right? |

Great news that Dome appear to be getting this car sorted early. In 2014, we'll have Dome, OAK, HPD, and possibly Lotus and Lola too. If Porsche sticks to tradition, we could even see customer cars the following year. LMP1 could look healthy again*
*touch wood. |

I'm guessing Dome hopes to sell some of the LMP2 to teams wanting to run in the AsLMS, so getting a domestic engine maker involved would be a plus. Nissan, and Honda both make nice LMP2 options, and Honda and Toyota have LMP1 engines as well. Could a new partner step in, or will one of those motors be utilized?
Also, I don't know how keen Dome are to run the car themselves again in 2014, so they will likely be looking for a team to buy the LMP1 chassis and run it in the WEC. |

I like the news of DOME producing an LMP for 2014. But I don't know if it's a good decision.
Only series where you can use LMP1 is FIA WEC (and Le Mans). In 2014 we already have Audi, Porsche and Toyota (very likely). Privateer efforts from OAK, Lotus, Lola (possibly) and HPD with or without Wirth. With DOME you'll have 5 cars for privateers to choose from. There aren't many LMP1 privateers and with Audi, Porsche and Toyota fielding 2 entries each for FIA WEC, that's already 6. No way there will be 12 or more LMP1 in FIA WEC. LMP2 and GTE-Pro and GTE-Am are also still in the series. Entry size can increase of course, if FIA and ACO wants to. About LMP2. In 2014 you'll have Oreca, Morgan (Oak), Zytek, Lola, Lotus, Wolf, Pilbeam and HPD. Possibility of Norma and Bailey. Yes there are many LMP2 teams all over the world. A few of them might be interested in an LMP2 DOME. But will that be enough for DOME to make a profit? I'm not trying to be pessimistic. Just trying to see things as they are. |
