Well suspect that gravel will be heavily used during the race.

Maybe a return to carrying a shovel in the car to dig it out!

Not a layout change but the first chicane on the Mulsanne is to be renamed the Daytona chicane, with the Daytona bus stop renamed Le Mans chicane.

Cool.
About time they renamed Indianapolis turn 3 Le Mans in return. Turn 4 could be Foyt, turn 2 Luyendyk and turn 1 Michelin. |

I think they've picked good names there, although just a shame it's chicanes they are naming and not proper corners

The proper corners all have long standing names now, the chicanes they can change whenever they feel like it because they have no heritage.

I’m trying to remember the early names. PlayStation was one I think.

These names don't stick. The fact that we, a bunch of hardcore anoraks, can't remember which one was the Playstation chicane tells you all you need to know...

I think I remember that too.
Ginge makes a point, they really are just the first and second Mulsanne chicanes. |

Nissan had everything that year. Chicane named after them, on the tickets and program cover, got pole, first retirement.

Major Changes To Le Mans Circuit Access Revealed
https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/...-revealed.html
On Friday 10 June 2022, on the eve of the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans, there will be a brand-new event for fans and locals, when they will have the chance to explore the full track. Holders of a General Enclosure ticket will be able to enjoy an array of activities and visit the garages, while other key spots around the circuit (from Tertre Rouge to the Porsche Curves) will open free of charge to anyone using an eco-friendly form of transport, such as walking, cycling, a kick scooter or rollerskates. |

That's pretty cool. I'd hoped to be fit enough to do a track run this year but might need to slide that into next year. I'd end up stranded on the Mulsanne and ruined for race day.
On the entry side, I'm hoping that map showing all the yellow gates means we'll be back to normal service. Higher res versions here: https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/t...-le-mans-56279 |

Are the smaller pedestrian access points (like the one from the parking rouge) still open?

As far as I can tell, it's only pedestrian access via Tertre Rouge that isn't going to be available. The Rouge car park is enormous, I'd be very surprised if they shut down access by that route.

That’s a little annoying. Come in at Tertre Rouge and you are right by the action. The “main” entrance by the Arena they just take your G&Ts off you. |
