1998 Minnenapolis from USRRC in 1998. Dyson WSC Riley and Scott vs the Panoz GTR1 vs Porsche GT1. Loved these interclass races which has not happened much over the years. Perhaps LMP2 vs DP in the mid 2010s in IMSA compares.
That was a great video. I didn't remember a race in Minneapolis ever happening. The track was all 90 degree turns on the streets but it worked!

1989 Supercup Silverstone

this was Group C german series doing its only round held outside germany, rather boring race but still nice viewing

some local british entries in this race, C2 class winner should be familair to BTCC fans

yes

AFAIK Britan only had a C2 championship while some C1 cars did run on series like Thundersports

the British C2 Championship run from 1988 to 1990 but the average race had less than 10 cars...

Well it didn’t get as far as 1990, despite there being talk of 20+ cars, but turned out to be exactly that. Just talk

Very much had similarities with the TCR UK series. Basically bringing a formula to the UK that works well elsewhere, but never got off the ground and struggled with getting grids into double figures

Group C AFAIk only had 2 national championships

the german DRM which was replaced by Supercup in 1986 , in essence same (german) teams that run in WSC , 86 and 87 Norisring were even common rounds of Supercup and WSC

and the far more succesful japanese JSPC 1983 to 1992 with plenty of local support (Toyota, Nissan and Mazda taking on the private Porsches)

Britain did have some succesful entries in Group C l (with private Porsches) ike RLR (Richard Lloyd) and John Fitzpatrick (until ho sold his team to Jochen Dauer in 1986) and of course TWR who run the very succesful Jaguar program

I'm pretty sure I was there for that Thundersports meeting at Brands as well - I would have been 4 or 5 at the time, I think it's actually one of the first of many I remember.

Yes, those were days when club racing was really popular and you had a lot more variety. Certainly had it's place

Lola were quite a bit different then, didn't quite have the resources they later had. But it's good to see them
