I never said Le Mans was all about top speed, but if you are quick in a straight line then it certainly helps.

Well, it WAS... Now they have them damn chicanes, and torque is what pulls you out of those things. What do diesels have in spades? Torque...

The reality at Spa was that the lead Pug built up a big lead then slowed the pace down, that was more noticable when the Safety Car came out and bunched them all up, the Pug was soon off in the distance again! With no R15's to race the Pug's were hardly stretched at all.
Also, last year I thought that it would be a miracle if all 6 diesels finished, but they did! Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a L-AM on the podium, I just think that without a quick tweak on the rules to give the petrol powered cars a little bit more power then once again we will see a LMP1D and LMP1P class structure! |

Now that would be grand! To see Peter Kox in one of the LMP1 Aston's fighting at Le Mans!
I'm praying for it. |

Well, still difficult to judge since the Porsche was way better than the competition and Essex was on the back foot after their misguided Dunlop choice. Jos certainly is talented, but wether he is a top LMP1 driver remains to be seen.
Does Kox have any experience in LMPs? He is a great GT driver, but that does not always translate to LMP (an old Bouchut springs to mind). |
