Apologies if this has been posted before, but I've always loved this raw broadcast footage of BPR GT at Montlhery in 1995. The whole look and feel has much more in common with the decades preceding it. Motorsport was on the cusp of a big transformation in the late nineties and early 2000s in terms of safety and technology. This clip captures the last throws of an era for sure.

^ 1995 BPR was best season IMO in terms of mix between club racing and professional
1996 it became too much flooded with works teams |

yes , was cool race at Zeltweg, Honda's first ever super touring podium too
GT Cup looked Porsche heavy but nearly half of those Porsches were self build tuner cars most notably the green one (listed as Cetoni ) who had the Turmat system (and custom wing and bumpers) , it was some supercharger powered by the engine instead of exhaust there were 3 Audis coupe, each was different build , the silver Dupre one had a 5 cylinder aluminium engine, the other 2 (Abt and Hohenester) were 4 cylinders to benefit from less penalty weight, of course with turbos and 4WD because the GT cup Division 1 was disbanded after this season, Abt moved into STW cup with customer Audi A4 with great success, and Roock Racing moved into 1996 BPR GT were they totally dominated the GT2 class ... It's come to my attention the 2012 Sebring 12 hour is on YouTube in it's entirety, without commentary. A fun flashback to a time when the podium ceremony never stopped.

3 935 (one by Steve O'Rourke and 2 Blue Coral) genuine late 70s leftovers or replicas ?
they did race in 1994 too but by 1995 they were gone some of the other Porsches also look from the 70s |

1995 GT Cup Round 5 Nurburgring
some cool new cars on the grid, a Ferrari 355 Bi-Turbo and a Valvoline sponsored Corvette C4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CTMYgPXdw8 with 21 starters the grid totally overshadows British GT of that year |

80% is too high
21 starters , 3 Audis, 1 Corvette, 1 Ford Escort Cosworth , 1 Ferrari , 1 BMW , so 7 of 21 it's something like 66% Porsches but they are not same 5 of them 993 the other ones 964 and even then nearly half of those Porsches were tuner cars , not stock anymore |

This is Peter Mamerow's company?
EDIT: Yes it is, thought he was a only-Porsche guy. |

he had quite an interesting line up for 1995 GT Cup
- white one was a 911 GTR , a 94 993 road car he converted to race car, no turbo - yellow one is a 911 GTT , a 95 993 he converted to race car but with turbos - and the Ferrari 355 Bi-Turbo , interesting is he had no sponsor on it... he had a spat with original driver Mike Hezemans which ended in courtrooms so Mamerow drove it himself in 2nd season half , and it was actually quite promising he finished near podium all the time now imagine somebody building one GT car , nevermind 3 different types at same time... the race format for 95 GT Cup Div. 1 was 1 hour plus 2 laps with one mandatory pitstop but driver change was not specified and they had a BOP with weights and air restrictors but no way near as excesive as todays's GT3 Last edited by porsche962fan; 3 Jan 2024 at 16:12. |

time flies...
The first time I attended the 24 Hours of Le Mans was in 1984, this means 40 years ago on this year 2024.
Happy new year to all 10-Tenthers ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0leZ3N41u4 (no commentaries on this video) |
