my thoughts exactly, but is it a WP car, WP motors in a PWR car or isit just abit of techical stuff? if it's the later 2 then i have no dramas but far out if it is full WP then it makes 8 WP cars (if D'Alberto runs) and 10 WP powered cars, it's just great news for the series .

You would have to think tech assistance, pro... GRM cant get WP engines for both cars in 08 due to supply issues (Apparently) so one cant imagine them being put in line behind the PWR sled...

One has to think that does Kees really have such a fond affection for the abilities of young Mr Thompson, or was it cheaper to keep the team operating with one car than go to court and get nailed for a breach of contract....

me thinks the latter... I am sure the infamous powder room will spill the full story in coming days...

Either way it's good to see another car back out there and you never know he could spring the odd suprise.

With the new points system he could finish top 15

Good to see PWR back. Hopefully they can show us that they can still be a force in the V8's

Surely this branding will appear on the vodafone cars. It appears to have been photoshopped into vodafone advertising for many months now, I don't recall the cars having actually run into this livery so it must be a photoshop job.... at Bathurst for example where Lyons and Simonsen are driving this car, didn't Sony Ericsson decals remain on the overalls and pit garage?

And the same Komatsu decals appear to have been photoshopped onto the original studio images and printed out and plastered over the stores?

i really think that Vodafone is dropping a decent amount of coin into 888 to the point where i don't think the loss of Sony is really going to hurt.

Worst case CL and JW may not get a free phone this year

Then subsequently this livery from other forums (is it already in another thread sorry ), may not be a hoax?

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...lanche/888.jpg

If so, it's very smart but even more difficult to sign-write then their existing livery.

not to different from 07 abit of black added seems like someone has photoshoped that aswell as 888 is still on the door not on the window. although it does look nice, very McLaren but i guess thats the whole idea.

With Thompson now at PWR where does this leave Jim Morton's FRSR main game prospects. Apparrently he has been given permission to miss Clipsal and be at EC in the main game. But who will be the driver? Most people believed it was going to be Thompson, but who is it going to be. It is obvious that he needs a paying driver, but it will have to be someone who is young wouldnt it? as it is Ford 'Rising Stars' Racing. Any ideas???

The powder room has suggested that this team has been trying to low ball each of the available 2008 car licence holders.... to buy a franchise at a fire sale prices...

... a particularly clever operator called that team's bluff and allegedly offered the 2008 car licence at a below-market price... and the team allegedly still baulked....

Which suggests to the powderettes that perhaps this operation is waiting for the world to hand it a solution rather than seeking their own....

How many more moneybags' drivers are there out there willing to throw upwards of $600k down the throat of a team that hasnt got its plan together??

Presuming any of this actually happened

I doubt Denyer would finish last all the time, and a dinged up ex-Ritter FPR chassis for a low-budget attempt at the main game, is better than nothing for the high profile network personality surely.

JustASupporter should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
http://www.smh.com.au/news/motorspor...157733720.html

AN OPEN-WHEELER up-and-comer who has never driven a V8 supercar will be racing in the championship big league in 2008.

In a bold move by race team boss Jim Morton, young West Australian Michael Patrizi has been named to drive the Ford Rising Stars Falcon in its debut season in the V8 supercars championship.

Patrizi, who raced in European formula three last year, will have his first taste of a V8 supercar in testing next month.

Kiwi teenager Shane Van Gisbergen has been confirmed at Stone Brothers Racing for the 2008 V8 supercars season, lining up alongside James Courtney. He replaces former champion Russell Ingall, who has joined the Paul Morris Motorsport Holden squad.

FRSR is only there for the experience, so I think that its a no lose situation to bring in a rookie. They can only get better, so why not let the team and driver grow together,

I cannot say the same for SVG, I just don't think its a wise move from a top level team. I could be proven wrong, however I think he will struggle and SBR will lose momentum. He will not be in the top 10 in the championship. I reckon he might only just make it into top 15.

But I could be wrong.

Looking at the other names available to SBR, and SVG's results from his few outings last year, I think he is worth the risk. Good luck to him; hopefully in a few years he will join Courtney back in Red
