Oh dear, I walked into that didn't I? I forgot the Aldis lamp and the smoke signals ...

Seriously - isn't there anyone on here who has used a scanner at Goodwood and can answer the question? I just need to know if they are still using analogue UHF transmissions so that I can be sure a Bearcat EZI-33xlt will work.

Apologies in hijacking your thread With a bit of luck [and in my IMHO] they're still be running analogue, and I'm sure that someone will be along with a sensible answer. Enjoy

Tim, you'll notice all Simon's replies are in the afternoon or evening, usually after he's had his nap!!

Can anyone confirm that Goodwood race control use UHF frequencies around 450MHz? Yes.

And is this still analogue transmission, not digital? Yes

Thanks, Tim

See, I told you that someone sensible would be along.

Now all you need is to find is a Bakelite scanner with a 1940's earpiece

FYI the circuit has now gone digital which is what the full time circuit staff etc use & we used them at the last autosolo, but at sprints etc we still use the better analogue radios as they have only a few digital sets.

All transmissions will be encrypted using a M3 Enigma machine and the Stewards will be encrypting their messages using a Lorenz Machine

And I assume the Pits & Startline will be on a completely separate system - encrypted using a Japanese Purple Cipher
