Still the big beast of a car we've come to know. I don't see that changing until the next road car model is released.

Honestly since it is a BOP formula, it would be hilarious if manufacturers go completely mad and turn their least sporting cars as GT3s:
BMW X5 GT3 Bentley Bentagaya GT3 Mercedes G Class(6 wheels one) GT3 (they do not all have to be SUVs) etc..... I would want to see that! |

Back on-topic:
I am intrigued on how manufacturers tend to go more aero focused on the new generation GT3s. The Ferrari 458 was not that much aero-developed(TBH the street car was probably the most aero advanced car out of all the GT3s at the time) and it had great top speed. The 488 is more aero developed, faster in the corners but it lost its straight line advantage compared to in the past Similarly I see the same trend with the Nissan. The current Nissan has great top speed and this has proved to be a great advantage especially at Bathurst. But the new car looks more aero-dependent which to me it looks that it will lose the top speed it currently has but will be faster in the corners. This also makes the car less amateur-friendly |

It's fast in the straights because it's given more power to compensate for it's huge body. Those sleek cars like the Ferrari, McLaren etc. aren't given as much power as the GTR or Bentley because they're lower in weight and have less drag.

Exactly - and why BoP is important for GT3 racing to keep variety. The Bentley front end is actually larger than the road car, so it doesn't just look like a road car with modified wide arches. This wouldn't be possible without the BoP.

I'm not really a fan of the big sedan based cars, but at least they add to the diversity.

Honda's set for worldwide distribution through its homologation run. Looks like as many as 70 could be built over the 7 years. What do most GT3s run for cost? Honda is claiming purchase price of €465,000 ($545,000 USD) per.
Have they shifted the world wide production to Italy? Article claims JAS will produce the car in Italy and provide European and Chinese support, Mugen for Japan and HPD continuing for North America. |

Anyway, NSX GT3 shown to be a solid and performant car in IMSA, but >450k € is too expensive maybe... you can get an amg gt3 for less. |

My prediction for the Japanese interest is that its for Super GT - and that ARTA goes back to Honda across the board (they currently run an M6).

The new road car is due out soon, so one would think that a GT3 version would follow suit.
Audi Sport are also set to expand their customer program with more satellite teams getting full or quasi factory backing: http://sportscar365.com/sro/blancpain-gt/reinke/ |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_GT3 List includes cars which the homologation has expired, cars which you might not be able to buy anymore (most you can second hand, others you might not be able to), and cars which not be available for a customer to buy. Does not include the nationally homologated cars like the Ginetta G55 GT3. |

New cars are as follows: Nissan GT R - available for 2018 BMW M6 (updated evo kit) - 2018 Bentley Continental (new model) - TBA (2019?) Aston Martin Vantage (new model) - TBA (GTE model will be 2018, so they may include a GT3 spec in that release also, if not 2019) Arrinera Hussarya - TBA (its built and testing but I'll believe it when they start racing it...) Rumoured: McLaren 720s (GTE or GT3) - McLaren seem to be ramping up for a GTE model potentially, and I'd assume this would be include a new GT3 model too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
