Great to see another godzilla back in the country. Hopefully we will see it on the track in the near future.

Not just another Godzilla, either, but the 1991 Bathurst-winner if I've got my sums right.

Brad Stratton's Corolla has recently been sold to a fellow Qlder and is being restored to race in Group C&A. TerryO has now added a FWD Corolla to his stable, i think it's the Bob Holden car. Does anyone have any further news on the TTA Sprinter in Melbourne, Mal Rea's Sprinter or Scott King's FWD cars? |

Racer, Re the Listering Sierra,
I think you'll find that the rule is the car has to have genuine, proven competition history and comply with the rules in place at the meeting the car is built to represent. In other words if the car is representing the Silverstone round of the BTCC in 1988, then the car must be mechanically and visually the same as the rules in place at that meeting. The one exception to that is that signage may be removed but not changed or added to. This allows for an owner who may have a specific reason to dislike a sponsor that was on the car at the represented meeting being able to remove them from the car they present at race meeting today. I looked at the Labbatts BMW M3 from the BTCC, but it was only ever run in 2 litre trim so I would probably have been going slower than my current car. GTR, it will need a CAMS C of D before it can race, however, temporary permits are issued by CAMS during this process as long as they can see some progress in the C of D application process. Well, I only know of 1 Gibson GTR that was sold overseas, and it just happened to be the one that took the first Japanese win in the 1000. Now I read that a Gibson GTR is returning to its motherland. 1 + 1 = 2, hopefully!

I'm not sure, but I think that car became the red and white car used by Geoff Full to great effect to win the baby car class at Bathurst a couple of times.
The TTA Sprinter went to Richard Steigler originally, didn't it? Quote:

http://www.racingsportscars.com/etcc...-04-17-021.jpg (photo from 1988 Donington ETCC round, hence different race number. Goode shared the car with BTCC team-mate Mike Newman, presumably why both names appear on the car. I think I've read somewhere that Newman still has his car?) In a way, it's a pity to see it leave the UK, but there doesn't seem to be the same amount of interest in Group A over here at present... Last edited by KA; 15 Jun 2007 at 06:59. |

A question prompted by a pic on another thread:
http://tentenths.com/forum/showpost....5&postcount=96 a quote from the 1985 Bathurst yearbook 'The no16 example, a pukka English entry, was also an Andy Rouse-built machine and was in fact driven by Rouse in 1984. It was originally built for production racing and had done a hard season in that form before being purchased by Englishman Lawrence Fagg, who converted it to Group A and brought it to Bathurst for fellow Englishmen Barry Robinson and Jon Jeffery to drive. The car raced with carburettors on its 3.5 litre V8 and rear drums which contributed to it being uncompetitive in what was to be its last race before sale' The Bathurst entry was in the name of Flexible Hose Supplies Ltd. Robinson & Jeffery qualified down in 51st of 52 and retired with accident damage after 59 laps. From the description in the Bathurst yearbook, this sounds like it might have been the ex-Pete Hall ICS production Rover from 1984. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ralfacapri.jpg (photo copyright Colin Stubbs) Hall's company ICS were Rouse's long-time major sponsor, and when Rouse moved on from Rovers to Ford in 85, Hall stepped up from production saloons to the BTCC using an ex-Rouse 1984 BTCC Rover. I'm know the Robinson/Jeffery car has been mentioned on ten-tenths before (most recently in the 'TWR/Group A' Rover thread in 'motorsport history') but does anyone know more about the Bathurst entry? pics and any ideas on what happened to the car after Bathurst would be very useful.... |

I asked this question earlier in this thread..if that is an ex Tratt car (and it sure looks like one), how many AUs did his team have? I thought it was 2..the ex Briggs car and a newer one they built. One went to Adam Sharpe in the UK and one went to the Seiders boys, so with this one,I guess they had 3?

If you count the BA now in Mr Deane's hands, that team has run 5 cars in its relatively short life. |

Tratt bought the Briggs car at the end of 99 or 00
(after Briggs took over the CAT team) to use as a spare chassis. I don't think it ever turned a wheel in anger while in Tratts possession. |
