Is that really Wendlinger's first FIA GT win since Zhuhai '99? Time flies...

Always happy to see Karl win after what happened to him in Monaco a decade ago.

And we had three 575 in the top six !
That's nice to see the GPC Giesse on the podium too... Who will have the nerve to enter a Top Vette in that championship ? |

Nevertheless, I still like the Saleen better. It was their race IMO. |

Shame for the second Saleen too... they did the pole, didn't they ? Tough second half (of the championship) for the 550s I expect !

But one or two private Corvettes could enlarge the field for more suspense (the Listers are missing too)... |

The #4 Konrad saleen was a nightmire. They put Toni Seiler in the car to start it. I actually thought that was a good idea.. until he spun the car, lost 2 laps, and got a drive through penality for blocking the leaders.
then Paul Knapfield was in the car, he was turning laps 2 secs slower than Toni. Toni's laptimes were quick. i was impressed with that at least Then Walter went in, and was already 4 laps behind, and then i think the driveshaft broke. not sure though |

They haven't been able to make the best of all his pole positions so far. Hint to Konrad: his brother(?) (Robert) is available... Last edited by gert; 27 Jun 2004 at 13:45. |

yeah, private vettes are fine. i just hate Pratt & Miller. I just have to hope that Terry Borcheller and Johnny Mowlem can somehow beat the vettes at mid ohio today. but it will be very tough, since they are about 1 sec off the vettes pace

The nature of GT racing is such you will always have slower drivers in some cars.
Better that than not having the car out there at all. |

i have already suggested putting Robert Lechner in the car. He is somewhat of a pay driver (CHAMP money) but he is fast, maybe not as fast as Walter, but thats ok.
But Toni brings in a lot of money for Konrad, and i dont thinkt they can run the team without that huge amount of money.. |

That's true K-B.
I just wonder how frustrating that maust/may be to Walter Lechner Jr. (or others in the same position): he has proved time and time again that he is fast, maybe just as fast as his teammates in the #5 car, and he just can't get a decent result because he happens to be on the slow car... |

It can actually enhance a driver's reputation if he's demonstrably quicker in the same car, of course.
Might help him get picked up by a better funded team in future. |

After all we can be happy that we have 1 FAST Konrad car and one half-fast Konrad car.
At RML they have 2 half-fast cars :-) |

yeah.. i never really complained about it. last year, it was tough, since they only had one car. this year, im happy.
I now hope that the Konrad cars dont have enough damage to make them withdraw from the LMES round at the ring next week. Hope its just driveshaft's and nothing a lot more serious |

Do they have only 2 cars, or do they have a spare car?

I saw they had a car in one of the more "exotic" championships too. (Eastern Europe?)
I don't know if that was one of the FIA-GT cars or not. Maybe one of their older cars - if they (still) have any... |

they may have a spare. dont know
the thing is that after the Magny Cours race, the Nr4 car was really messed up (undertray in bad shape) they didnt have enough time to repair it, so they just withdrew that car. it seems like the n4 is ok, (except for something mechnically) and the N5 may be the same way. it looked like suspension failure too, but maybe it wasnt, since the driveshaft breaks on one side, the car will "fall" down. we have seen that on many occasions with Konrad.. dont know. i just have mixed feeling about today. im happy that Uwe and Michael finished 2nd, but they came so close to winning!!!! so close!!!!! 4 corners close! |
