I really think if they pushed it back to August/September they could plan with such a greater degree of confidence.
In other news, it seems like us lucky lucky Brits won't need an IDP to drive in France - https://twitter.com/grantshapps/stat...12385072918532 |

The Rolex clock started the countdown on the official Le Mans site... till now it was just displaying the actual time.
It's counting to June |

Still seems ambitious to me. Are things that much better in France than the UK?

On the other hand, there is a long way to June and the vaccination programs are only going to accelerate. So hope is still there, but I would not be surprised if spectator access will only be given if you are vaccinated. |

Until such time as everyone has been offered vaccination, no-one is going to dare try that policy. Even then, in the UK at least, there are currently no plans to even offer it to under 18s, and no formal plans have been made for anyone under 50 who is not considered "vulnerable".

I do think it's more than certain...
In Hungary they are planning a so called vaccination pass (in a form of an app on your phone) which will make you eligible for public baths, concerts...etc.... by 250K people (this year maybe even more, as there is a huge desire in general for leisure activities) I cannot imagine something else |

Hungary isn't exactly the best example of European democracy.

Phase 1 (of which you refer to) is a JCVI-recommended list of priority groups. Phase 2 will then likely prioritise based on occupational priority rather than clinical vulnerability. 'JCVI asks that the Department of Health and Social Care consider occupational vaccination in collaboration with other government departments.' |

It's a tough situation, but when the most at-risk are vaccinated you'd assume that there will be a move to people effectively governing their own levels of risk. That is how you get back to normality.
I already said I think just a couple of months can make a really big difference. So many variables and things that the ACO cannot control. I'm confident they can run a race with fans this year, just maybe not in June. |

Actually it is in Spain, where people who denied the vaccine are listed, it's Belgium where the vaccination is not started yet, it's Romania where they deliver the Vaccine in pizza boxes....
I wonder if you have any facts in your hand about Hungarian democracy....or it's just The Guardian you read....in this case of course you know everything BETTER then anybody else...facts are just bothering circumstances... Anyhow it is not a political forum and I am no adversary of any political view.. a vaccination pass is a simple fact...and I guess it will be implied in EVERY country. Fact: Lufthansa(German) mailed me, that without a vaccination proof I cannot fly with them from March..... back to the topic: Vaccination proof will be necessary for such an event like LM. and it is right so! |

Lufthansa requires a negative test, much like a lot of other airlines. A substantial minority of the population will not ever be able to be vaccinated. |

By June we will all be vaccinated, the virus will have been beaten and we will all be sitting in the campsite waiting for quali and then the race. Positive thinking please and no positive tests.

There are few advantages to old age. One is that I am eligible to receive the vaccine within a few weeks.
Whether or not that will facilitate access to a spectator enclosure at Le Mans remains to be seen. |

Well after watching the bbc this morning us coffin dodgers are in danger of being moved down the list. Over about 1 and a half hours the list of people demanding to be moved to the top of the list was never ending, Started with paramedics and ambulance staff, then teachers and people working in schools, then other emergency services, postmen, bus drivers, council workers, staff in essential retail, and then finally someone representing professional footballers who honestly believes people playing football in the premier league should all be vaccinated first as they are at risk of catching it of each other. The queue of people demanding to get to the front of the line is growing.

Yes, looking at the official website, it appears that I am in category 7 (and they run in numerical order of priority). My wife, being slightly older than me is in category 5, but she is asthmatic and was very poorly with it in November, so she might get lucky and be pushed further up. As far as I know, we are still immunising categories 1 and 2. Footballers should be in about category 25.....
