Am I seeing that right... it has rear hinging half doors? Suggesting either internal storage or tiny crew section.

That's not too uncommon for trucks, I think the Toyotas and Nissans ran them for a while on the smaller trucks. And I think the new Ranger and Colorado/Canyon do as well. Usually it's a TINY rear seat, think big Healey size spacing on the seats

If there is the intention to sell it in the UK market, the crew cab option has big implications for tax purposes - even if it is a tiny space.

According to Motor Trend, the pics are ‘renderings’ at the moment. Good looking, perhaps at the cost of practicality? Predicted production version due 2020 in the States with 2.5 litre I4 and auto box....

An alternative rendering has emerged. But it is rumoured that the real thing has been seen - although this might be a more practical variant to sit alongside the edgier model: |

I'm not a fan either, but broadrun's truck has it. Column shift is still my favorite in a truck but you have to get a bench seat... or you could. Mine has a console shifter which is not great. However, I can hit the shifter to the left to turn off cylinder deactivation and get FULL VOLUME.

It doesn't take long to get used to it and where JHammy's console shifter sits is a full storage bin in my truck so I think it's a decent trade off. I've had one moment of stupidity with it in 5 years so not too bad but the new software update will auto-park when you open the driver's door. So no rolling and looking down with the door open to line up any longer but some of us can lean out the window to see the lines so there's that.

I guess with seemingly no chance of a military spec Defender (Pick-Up version canned apparently), there is a niche to fill. Perhaps INEOS are targeting that market with their proposed LR replacement...... |

With modern materials, it can't be as heavy as a WOLF I would imagine? |

I’m sure if they marketed a ‘non military’ version that looked identical they’d sell a shed load! The local supermarket mother and child bays would be full of them......
