Hi again Vince.

You sold your car to Sean Cockrell, who converted it to classic Gp.1 spec, but didn't do much, and sold it to a guy called Ian wallace, who had it stolen off his driveway. 5 months later, it was found complete, but a little damaged, in Luton.

That was back in 2004.

Oh, so you crew chiefed Crasher Collins!! Aka Stiggy!

What you doing next year? I'm supposed to be running two cars!! And we're doing road courses (at last)

Vince Mitchell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I am now living & working in Spain. I am Chief Mechanic at Ascari Race Resort. So, as much as I would like to help, i can't do it.
Ben was great, he was so quick. Flat in all turns! I spent most of my time in scrutineering bay, having every nut & bolt checked!! They even had the fuel pump out to check the part number on it!
I would love to find my old Sunbeam & maybe buy it back.
If anyone knows of its whereabouts, please let me know.

Ascari? Say hello to my ol' mate Steve Lewis while you're there... That'll surprise him!

For your 'Beam... Have a look on this forum for Ian Wallace (username is ianwallace) and you may well be able to send him a PM........

Hi Chunterer. RE Tevor Griffiths - Firenza. I recently made the aquaintance of Trevor who is very much back in the motor racing fold running his own TJ Motorsorts team in Norfolk. Following on from another thread "Where have all the racing Magnums gone" I know that Trevor would like to get hold of his old car if it is still around. Does anyone have any ideas what might have happened to the car?

Regards, Malgrips

So his TJ outfit's still going is it? I lost track of things about 10 years ago when he was running the Vectra and stuff. Really nice bloke Trevor and a good driver as well as an engineer iirc?

I remember that Trevor had good competition in the silver Droopsnoot from Rob Walker's similar car. I think Rob converted his car in to a classic DTV spec version?

The Trevor Griffiths Firenza has changed hands between Rob Walker and Mostyn Rutter a few times , the latter class winning in Group 1 touring cars in 2002.

Or Mostyn Nutter as they printed in a programme once!

Last time I saw Mostyn, he was playing with a Nova of all things, but still had his Firenza and was tidying it up - though that was pre-2002.

It was quick - most certainly!

I just found this thread, very interesting. I started in Road Saloons when it started in 1984 until about 1987. Seeing Trevor Griffiths name prompted me to see if there is anyone else out the that raced in the early days ?
I have a lot of in car video taken at this time that might be interesting to some of you.

Joss ,

I think I may have seen you at Lydden in your Sunbeam Lotus (black & silver), I seem to remember you driving with your arm resting on the window frame !! Very casual, didn't make any difference as you won the race anyway

I know that an old Gerry Marshall Vauxhall Magnum has been restored and is being raced by a guy called Adrian (can't remember his surname). I went testing with Adrian at Mallory last year.

Is Micky Rason the guy that used to race a yellow Mini ??

Mick's Mini was red or at least it was when he came out in ModProds, his brother John's was the yellow one, still trying to get Mick to bring it out again.

Is Micky Rason the guy that used to race a yellow Mini ??

Hi guys well the first mini was built for sprinting that was white and was destroyed by my brother at padock bend, lydden, then for the mod prods (formaly budget rent series) i built one blue with yellow front (since much coppied, although the flourescent pink wheels and bumpers werent coppied!) NO it looked good actually! then came a sister car for my brother black with yellow front. both were featured in fast car ccc and miniworld. then in 1993 came the new red one which was the project car for safety devices new 19 multipoint cage designed by ian pattinson (miglia builder), myself and safety devices top bod whos name i cant remember. i couldnt get away from the yellow so the cage bumpers and all decals were...yes yellow. it was displayed by s.d at the 93 racing car show earls court.
so minimadness you could be right! although these cars were only raced in mod prod saloons/ falken tyres mod prods
my mate ian goldie also raced in the same series with a yellow clubman shape.

ps are you still awake........mick

It's been exceedingly well modified and was built especially for racing by a well known non-DTV person (sorry Neville!!).

In all seriousness the car had no race history but it has some fantastic bits on it, worth £2k just for that and if I could afford it I'd buy it now.
