Well, I know of at least one -- the Bridgestone/Firestone guys said that on the same tires, there isn't much difference in speed between the IRL and CC cars.......as if it matters when 200 mile-an-hour race cars are running 100 miles an hour.

I doubt the tire guys were talking about lap times, though - since the IRL spec car is about 650 hp and the CC spec car is 100+ higher... Probably just braking and turning stuff.

Interesting stuff - and is it also true that IRL team owners beat fluffy bunnies over their heads with mallets?

If i remeber correctly, when i and a few others mentioned Franck as a possible replacement for Seabass there was a certain amount of grumbling, what do you guys think of him now, , we told you he was bloody good.

Whats this with the

Montagny really did come up to pace quite quickly, which was impressive - a Tracy, Montagny team (provided they remain friends) could really be something to watch in 2008... Good also to see NHL hiring some old Rusport staff - that is a good thing and I am also intrigued about who this possible new team owner is as well... |

- a poster whose nick is "Kal" doesn't exactly seem to me an impartial voice (just add "khoven" and .. ) - to demonstrate it, how can this bloke know the shape of the new IRL car when IRL still have to decide whether / when to design a new one? |

I suppose they could be talking about this, but there's no way it changes the open-wheel nature of the car. I sure haven't heard anything like that.

No, Mystery. 14 cars on the grid (only) though, that's pretty serious. I know it's work-in-progress. Impressive form from Franck Perera, again, huh?

Which grid? IRL, CC or both. I don't think I've heard 14 driver/sponsor/team combinations confirmed across both altogether

CCWS, 14 in testing was it not? You're right though, a long way from confirmed (heart attack-serious).

Oh right - that 14 - fair enough.
It'll be more than 14 though but probably not much more than 18, possibly less. NHL 2, Forsythe 2-3, Miinardi 2, Team Oz 1-2, Rocketsports 1-2, Coyne 2, PKV 2, PCM 2, Conquest 2 I make that 16-19 actually, maybe even 20 with another 3rd car somewhere. 20 would be ok if outside funding for that could be found. 16 wouldn't look great and would take Paul Tracy having only a slight moment to have us down to single figures. |

Looks like a Conquest announcement is coming shortly regarding 2 cars with Perera and Pagenaud. Should be a good combo.

So no one knows then, we can just scrub it off as rubbish then? All was asked was for clarification, nothing more...
But Yes one confirmation from Conquest - they seem to happy with Perera...I would expect a second Frenchman to be confirmed soon at Conquest But 14 cars at the test - not so concerned, the entire field rarely turns up to tests, both inside and outside CCWS, so all is still going comparitively well for the 2008 season. |
