This is whatr i think to be honest, quite a few of them were getting abit loose on the mables. Unfortunately i didnt get the before i only got the contact shown below along with the other frames of Simpson spinning out.

Playing devils advocate, i was close to the simpson/boak collision and it seemed a racing incidient, as said, very difficult to avoid at that speed. Boak did appear after that to be a bit miffed and was certainly going for it (great for us spectators). Have to say that Simpson was soooo impressive, his technique, car control and smoothness for such a young guy, he really does appear to be the real deal.

Thought the entry was excellent, the crowd seemed bigger than usual for a BRC event. From us spectators, how good was the organisation, there was almost no hold ups the whole day other than for break downs etc, the grids were ready to go before the cars were all off the circuit. Wicked.

...damn shame it crapped out for Lydden. Going to be a hard debut for the car at the ERC, thats for sure!

I'd say Ash looks like he has all four wheels pointing forward in the first two pics, Bert, then gets tapped.

It's hard to say, but I'll echo the sentiments above that I thought he was drive of the day in the mods. There was such a gulf in power between him and Bird up the hill yet he still beat him. Excellent racer (even when he was in his 205 he was excellent and beat most of the Pro-Car2000 drivers). Hope he can get an ERC move lined up one day.

Most, but not all

Having raced against Ash in a couple of divisions now, I can honestly say that I think he is a real talent and has some of the best car control I've seen. He was pretty well roughed up in the A final, so full credit for still coming away with second place in the end.

Definately agree with regards to the Super Mods. The Supercar final was excellent, but so were the Super Mods. Really close racing and great to see the scrapping between the cars with more power and those with better handling. Birds Clio was making me chuckle pretty much every time it came round North Bend, its wheel cocking as it passed by!

(I'm a huge fan of the Exige as well, so seeing them out in force definately didn't hurt either! )

With regards to the Boak/Simpson incident that video does, to me, point the finger at Boak. Simpson looks like he is carrying more speed and isn't cutting in front of Boak (in my opinion anyway).

lets leave the decision making to the judges of fact and the clerk of the course , they all have video camera's around the track now .

yes i was the one driving the TT and i drove in a straight line , yes there was contact between me and Ash , i have raced against ash many times and have no reason to take him out . Maybe look at his driving up until that point , he had already been backward infront of jamie bird and also 4 wheels off the track down the hill , he was on a mission !! i spoke to Ash afterwards and he didnt say anything to me , guess we both took it as a racing incident

Rallycross judges of fact always seem to let more things go so you can't really blame drivers. Whether stewards should be more assertive is another matter. In circuit racing the emphasis is on the responsibility of the passing car to pass safely and avoid unnecessary contact to vehicles that are ahead and on the racing line. The short nature of rallycross races makes things more frenetic so I guess that's why drivers are given (and give each other) the benefit of the doubt.

This is the internet. We have no place for facts here, just opinions.

Decision making, yes, Mick, but if we want to discuss it there's nothing stopping us is there? Far too much door-handling in rallycross is dismissed as 'rubbing's racing'. I have nothing against you whatsoever but I'd say the video looks fairly conclusive from that angle as well! I can see that you drove in a straight line, as you say, but from behind my keyboard it looks like a straight line across the track into Ash!

To be fair, before I start an argument, I'm probably just bitter that I can't race any more, partly because of the cost of panel damage because the stewards tend to look the other way these days. Bring back Tony Watts, I say! He didn't take any ****.

P.S. Good job with the TT, it's bloody quick.

Its the reason I converted my Minicross car to circuit spec (the damage)
I love Rallycross and will admit its more exciting that what I do now but in 6 years of racing circuts now I have only two incidents resulting in a trip to the panel shop and they were both delt with, one resulting in the other driver getting two points on his licence.

Just wanted to put a posting on here to thank pat, his team and all the drivers for a great days racing. I was chief marshal and I speak for all the guys in orange when I say that we really appreciate the efforts that the circuit owners and all the teams and drivers put in to make such a great days racing as we saw at Lydden last weekend.

I would have loved to have seen a super final at the end, as would the spectators all around us......

Roll on the ERC next weekend!
