Mind you, I suppose if you were providing that kind of money you may have some sort of performance related clause in your deal too? (Maybe that's really why Kubica is there, so he can slot into the car and show what it's real pace could be?) |

Not really, he paid other people so they couldn’t challenge him.

I don’t think just putting Kubica in a race seat will solve the problem IMHO

Bought Prema, spent millions developing the aero to be faster, signed teammates on heavily-subsidised deals. Others were allowed to win but if Stroll directly behind they had to let him through, and if behind him they weren’t allowed to challenge. Led to some major embarrassments, especially at starts with people pulling out of the way to the side, and then acting as rear gunner for the whole race. Then, because the series was virtually dead as people no longer wanted to pay to race against an unbeatable car, the FIA changed the rules for 2017, with a new, 100% spec bodywork/aero set up to mirror the already spec suspension. |

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/s...lliams-829033/ His year in F3 was not a full strength year with many teams not running due to the money Prema (Stroll senior) was investing in his sons future. Quote:

Sure he got a massive leg up but he still had to drive the car well. |

Except he had a different and better car than everyone else, including his teammates who weren’t allowed all the upgrades he had.
So what he had to do was outqualify the other teams and then his teammates would help him. Doesn’t make him the worst driver in the field but even no-hopers like Galael could win like that. It was a joke. |

No, polar opposite.
F3 was a technical free class, with some restrictions. GP2 was a total spec car with no modifications allowed. |

The trouble is, Stroll and Sirotkin are integral parts of Williams' current 'plan', aren't they......? So I don't think anyone can be chastised for criticising that element of the 'plan'......

Autosport is reporting that Stroll may switch to Force India for 2019. The humiliation of being snubbed by Lance Stroll!

The article didn’t say, but I bet Papa Stroll can outbid Checo’s sponsors.
