Bayliss was on the 990, which Capirossi also won on (yet he could only manage one mixed conditions win on the 800).

I thought he was South African lol!
Not a bad rider, but not that flash either, but a young lad who has won races in WSSK, so better than most who are riding there!! |

Apparently they're re-paving philip island, and casey is telling them which bumps to keep and which bumps need to go. Nice to hear they're not going to turn the circuit into bonneville.

Interesting stat - 75% of the whole MotoGP paddock (Moto2/3 included) in 2013 would have come thru the Spanish CEV Buckler series

Interesting, but not surprising, the whole series has been run by Spaniards for 20 years or more and this is no shock.
A bit pathetic maybe, but not a shock |

It wouldnt be too bad if there was a level playing field, but after reading so many stories about the SPanish rider getting the best parts from Brits, Germans, etc etc you just end up getitng fed up with it all sadly.
I can recall guys like Haslam, Davies, Camier, Darren Barton, Laverty, Bradl, Nohles etc etc all getting inferior equipment then their team mates or rivals. Remember Jay Vincent and McWilliams on 250, they could never get factory bikes yet guys like Debon, Perugini etc would be about the same pace all year on factory bikes. Its all about sponsors and face fitting, never, ever about talent, except for a very small amount of riders. A Spainard with a bit of talent will always get to GP level, a Brit/Aussie/German/Kiwi/Franchman will only get to the top if he is exceptional, a bit of talent will only get him a year, thats all. |

Smith in the Tech 3 Yamaha, for two years? Is he seriously worth it? Maybe one, but two?

You cant really judge a guy after only one year.
If he bails like Toseland did then he will be out on his year, and I guess if he is woeful he will too, but it takes a while to learn to ride a GP bike these days. Not everyone is Marc Marquez |

Bradley Smith does not deserve that ride whatever way you look at it. Don`t get me wrong, I do not begrudge him the ride, but even if the criteria for the ride alongside Crutchlow was to be a hot British talent, then surely Scott Redding or Jonathan Rea would have been far more deserving.
But such is the politics in modern motorsport |

He has a good management team who got him on a great deal over a year ago, not really his fault is it?
He has won GP's and spent the last two year on a dud of a bike that no one else uses, against a bunch of cheats! So cant really judge him yet. He will believe in himself, and for me thank God for Poncheral, if it were not for him there would be many fewer Brits in GP racing, and yet more chuffing Spaniards |

When the deal was done Smith was coming off a P2 & P4 finish in 125cc championships & a P7 finish in his rookie Moto 2 season - he would've expected to finish in the top 4 or 5 this season before stepping up to MotoGP. I am interested to see how he goes, I think he will be ok...

Pedrosa sets fastest time during testing in Sepang , Malaysia. and Maquez was only 0.036s slower than Lorenzo, who set the 2nd fastest time. and Rossi came in 4th quickest with his Yamaha.

Well, they havent even done anything to it, its pretty much the same bike!
If I was Spies I would makethat injury last a few years, he is wasting his time on that pile of crud, seriously he would be better off on a CRT! |

I see Stefan Bradl showed some good pace in test at Americas Circuit - no doubt he will want to be as competitive as Marc Marquez. Is Bradl's bike the same spec as the Repsol Honda - be great to see another rider dicing up the front...

Yeah both Gresini and LCR will start the year with the same spec of bikes as Repsol but Dani and Marc will get the new pieces first before they're handed down to Bradl and Bautista.
