Toprak was in the mood! He's still a contender for the title but I think Bautista and Ducati are still stronger overall. I don't think one fall means a reset back to his 2019 nightmare.

Don't overlook Rea, new lap record in superpole at Most to front the grid.

Wow! what fantastic racing at Most, Redding and Rea shoulder to shoulder and a deserved win for Bautista in race 1. More action today!
Simply some of the best WSBK racing ever.

Enjoyed the last couple of rounds between the top 3, Redding getting the BMW sorted too...

How was Locatelli on the warm up lap and race - lost the plot...

Summer rest in WSBK (sadly for us, superbike fans!).

Perhaps is a good time to put a graph resuming the season so far. The graph shows the evolution of BAU-REA-RAZ through the first 6 rounds (weekends).

[Please, look the graph]

Rea has keep himself in the "Easy" zone all the time. It means his gap to Bautista has never been really worrying.

However, Toprak has been much of time in the complicated zone. In particular, after Misano he was going towards an alarming path to be virtually eliminated in a couple the rounds. Luckily for him and us, he has come back to a merely uncomfortable (but not impossible) zone.

(((
A bit of [boring] explanation:
The scale is the gap divided by the square root of number of remaining races. It is the adequate stat to know the "difficulty" to overcome the gap to leader Bautista in the remaining races.

Mark "10" means the difficulty is approx the same as overcome 10 points in one (long) race (a bit more than the 9 points between 1st and 3rd). Mark "25" means the level of difficulty approx equal to gain 25 points on Bautista in one race, basically BAU getting all wrong and the rider winning the race.
)))

It's been a good season so far. Can't wait for the second half. Still not sure who is going to be champion. Rea has seen a bit of his invincibility that won him so many titles go. Bautista has been good, but needs to stop throwing away so many points. Toprak is looking good for another one, but it's not over yet. He's had a bit of bad luck this year, so you never know.

Anyway great analysis above

Just finished catching up on the action from the Czech round. This is just insanely good racing! Hands down probably the best racing (in terms of the action between the top aliens at the front) anywhere in the motorsport world? Great to see Redding and BMW getting in on the action too.

We may look back over this period and consider it a golden era in years to come. The tempo at the front is just incredible.

I agree, I think too we are in a zenith time in WSBK in, at least, these two last years. Let's enjoy this "astrological conjunction" while it lasts!

Definition of drama: See World Superbikes Magny Cours 2022.

So many talking points, I'm surprised nobody has said a thing.

Yes that was a dramatic day of racing. Rea seems to be making quite a few mistakes these days. We didn't really see them prior to 2021, so is the increased competition putting the pressure on him more?

Bautista is still looking good despite that off in R3. Can he hold off Toprak till the end?

very good, Dani. I didn't say much in case folks were still waiting to see the races/results. I could just about keep up with the incidents in race 2!

Nasty moment for Toprak on the kerbs. I was surprised to see Kawasaki running the same brake scoop design after Rea implied it contributed to his crash as it might have caught on the high kerbs. I guess the design is integral to their brake cooling/performance. Their design compared to the PATA Yamaha seems to comes down a lot more.

It's gonna be a close run thing but I think he can hold on. I'm really looking forward to the last 5 rounds, especially Portimao and Phillip Island. It's gonna be a belter!

Oh yeah, silly season also seems to be in full swing now! I can confirm I'll be the rider on the second works Ducati - on condition a version of me in a parallel universe wins a championship on a Ducati.

Incident packed weekend at Magny Cours, Rea's incident just looked surprisingly clumsy particularly for him.

What do we make of the talk of 'concessions' which the likes of Honda and BMW may benefit from? The idea is sound but as always, implementation could be the killer. I mean, people will always try and game any system. We'll see. I suppose there's a safeguard in that all manufacturers have to agree to change requests from each other.

Bautista was untouchable in Catalunya really. Fair play to him. Is the title is his to lose now? Around Catalunya at least, it really looked like the Yamaha and Kawasaki had reached their limits.

We've got some fantastic tracks coming up to look forward to.

At this moment I would be surprised if someone other than Alvaro will be champion. The only person who can stop him is himself

Portimao

Supersport race 2 was stupendous! Wow! It needs to be seen.

As for the big bikes, pretty good races but perhaps it's time to say the Ducati is a bit too strong in a straight line WITH Alvaro onaboard? I'm not sure anything can or should be done because it seems to be this one particular rider. Good to see Lowes show some form and finish races. I think his current level is probably where the Kawasaki truly is and Jonathan is extracting speed above and beyond.

Sadly, another young rider lost their life. RIP Victor Steeman

That story got sadder im sorry to say.... Dutch press have reported that his greatest fan, his Mother, suffered a cardiac arrest at home two days later and also succumbed.
Thoughts and condolences to the Family and Father of Victor who in the space of a few days lost a son and his wife.
