The Falken hit was scary. For the first time ever I feel bad for Scott Tucker.

The damaged cars I think are:
551 HPD 17 Porsche 48 Porsche 06 Porsche 93 SRT Viper 62 Ferrari Looks like all took heavy damage. Maybe the 48 can get back into the race, but I am not sure. Not sure if one guy is to blame here, just a freak incident really. |

FoD79, great theory, but it does NOT work in practice. It just takes one guy going, or not, at just the wrong moment, and you end up with a royal mess on your hands.
And in a case like this, it's rather like many plane crashes, where no single element in the process would have led to the end result on its own. It's just that the combination of them, the way they happened, led to a very negative outcome. |

Yep, but explain to me how someone punting another well past the chicane/tracks, that are being blamed for this incident by some, has anything to do with the actual chicane/tracks. Everyone went; 2 cars didn't. That was the cause.

At least it looks like we'll get a full restart and a full race once it gets going.

Shea Adam @GearboxGirl 9m
@specutainment That's cause they never crossed the line without the damaged cars to register changes in position. Midweek Motorsport @specutainment 7m @GearboxGirl nope timing showed Dyson leading ed brown second and Graf 3rd Shea Adam @GearboxGirl 5m @specutainment Those cars crossed in that order, most of field didn't due to blocked track. Half a race with half of it under FCY would be great. |

I hate this street circuit. Poorly designed and WAY too tight for cars of this caliber to be racing on it. It pains me every single time a car gets completely destroyed at the circuit because it is completely unnecessary. This circuit just begs for idiotic incidents and crashes like the one we just saw at the beginning of this race. Frankly I don't care if Baltimore "Deserves" this race just because they are seeking to appeal to another city/region, this track is utterly moronic. Moments like what just happened in the 2013 edition here ****es me off to no end. This race is a complete waste of money for those who have to repair damaged cars every time they go to this damned wreck fest.
Get it off the damn schedule. |

Man, that Porsche ad right after what happened is just heartbreaking... I'm not in the mood to watch the race anymore.

Yeah, God forbid they schedule these events with some extra time to accomodate a (gasp!) red flag event.

If they went over time, how would that affect the TV / local government agreement to borrow the roads? I think it will have to be truncated for those reasons. And, if they don't start soon, could we see a race with no pit stops needed?

Jeremy Shaw says their pit reporter says Klaus Graf says that in the drivers' meeting, the drivers were told to reform after the chicane and Then take the start---maybe Chris Dyson jumped the start?
By the way ... who here thinks it is a huge safety hazard to have a temporary chicane which can get batted around on a pace lap? Someone nudged it and moved it around, I didn't see who, but how freaking safe is it to have bouncing tire bundles on track? Anywhere else that would be an FCY to Remove, not replace, the tires---off the track, where tire bundles belong. If they aren't willing to resurface the street so it is safe to race, race somewhere else. Look what Sao Paulo did for IndyCar---closed the street down and diamond-grinded the whole front straight between quali and the race a few years ago. That's commitment. Baltimore might be a great event but it is also a mickey-mouse track, and if the city can't commit to making it work .... |

We can all whine all we want about the track. Drivers caused the wreck.
