Wonder how many of those cars still exist. Guessing all since the 80s exist somewhere in at least one of the cars, but wonder about the older ones since cars seem to be one of those things we never saved in the past. It's weird the number of cars that were rebodied, destroyed or junked in the corner of a garage, but guess that's why they command insane prices.
No surprises in the Carb Day running it seems, sounds like no one binned it so that's always a plus. Dixon doing his usual CGR best and wrapping up their program 45 min early so everyone could go home. Rossi having fueling issues and parked for 5 min for spilling on pitlane. Power running far better than his last row start And Ferrucci annoying someone on track again, and responding like a smart a on Twitter to comments Last edited by broadrun96; 28 May 2021 at 21:47. |

Carb Day
It looks like Team Penske have finally found their form, with all four drivers in the top 9. Bet they wish they had found it last weekend, especially Power. Chevrolet have improved, with five cars also in the top 9. |

That’s a lot of laps. And interesting that the fastest lap number is quite spread. Some early in their running, some late.

Its kinda mad. Dixon has been at the top for 2 weeks, looks like he could dominate the race and yet its incredibly difficult to rule out about half the field. Half the field are saying they have a great race car and can win the race. Im excited, the action in the "race running" during practice suggests that the cars can race with each other much closer than last year and that the "young guns" are fearless. Impossible to call whats going to happen and thats what makes this so exciting. Looks like its going to sunny all day too, wonder how thats going to change the balance.

That it would quietly grate on Scott a bit that he's only experienced the glory of Indy only once? It might and it might not. Without actually asking him, we can only speculate. |

Just thumbing through this thread and recent comments on success - Dale Earnhardt won a single Daytona 500 so is he somehow less accomplished in stockcars? That's a better comparison, than Mario, who was completely overrated, BTW
The big move day happened yesterday for me and the TV is setup, ready to tune in for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Can't wait to watch as I've not seen one lap turned this month. |

I have no clue who is going to win, but i was predicting a Penske car last week so I guess I'll stand by it. It would also be really cool to see a non-full time driver in winners circle. |

In the 1990's I could watch the Indy 500 from start to finish and be glued to every minute of the race. I kind of liked it when the race ended with just 3-5 cars on the lead lap. Plus there was a car reliability factor that a team had to consider. In today's era, The last 10 laps is all you need to watch The cars are reliable now, the only attrition is through crashes. The safety car periods keeps all other cars running packed together until the last restart whenver that is. |

They also tend to get worked up when you remind them that rugby was invented by someone who was rubbish at football, so decided to cheat..... |

You’d also miss the chance to moan about the cautions. Which is an integral part of any race fan’s enjoyment.

Say what we want about pre race shows, but I may have shed a tear in my beer during Taps. And that retired Petty Officer and God Bless America?! Let Freedom Ring!
Now, let's get it on!! |
