We are speculating that it was the radiator, which was found in the woods later.

have only seen the footage of this accident just now--phew....just plain dumb luck that she wasn't injured. Yes, the Moore accident flashed in my mind, and yes, the run off area is pretty pitiful isn't it?

as per Derek "hyperbole" Daly, I don't know if he's always been like this, but he really does have a showman/ circus barker angle to him doesn't he? Its like he has bought into the whole American tv /promoter/sales pitch aspect of modern tv, I know he has the "Derek Daly School of Racing" in Vegas, and it seems that he figures that he has to go the "heavy on the adjectives" route of being a tv presenter. I see it as pandering to the masses in terms of "attention grabbing-ness".

back to subject--incredible luck, but also a very graphic testament to the strengths of the modern race car. Really though, she was just plain lucky as per the angle of initial impact, the sequence of the break up dissipating the energy and the fact that the fence didn't play a bad part in it as with Brack (and could have with Carpentier's weird crash at Laguna Seca a few years back)

better lucky than rich they say, I personnally wouldnt want to rewatch the replay if I were here more than once. Lets all touch wood for future incidents....

I have to say even if this was ten or fifteen years a go, she easily could have been killed.

seen legges crash yesterday, and WOAH! Huge, the side pod came right off, the car went up in the air with the nose pointing back down the track, rolled violently, and the interveiw was amazing! She was luck not to go over into the trees.

Seems to me that most people, man, woman, racer, commando, anyone, would have been shaking and unable to talk; her calm following the ordeal is amazing.

High speed flips that doesn't involve any high-G impacts (such as Legges crash) are usually some of the easiest to walk away calmly from. I've seen hundreds of drivers walk away from utterly destroyed cars with a simple shrug of their shoulders, while a seemingly not-that-bad hit with the wall have left others shaken like hell.

Also, remember that a massive crash often seems a lot worse to us who are watching (crashes that don't result in injury, that is) - for the driver inside it's usually over so quickly they really have no idea how bad it looked and how wild it really was until they see the video.

Hello

But will she be racing at Surfers or will the some after affects of the crash prevent her? Days down the line she might not feel so willing.

Nick
