I was at the circuit Yesterday for our training day it's starting to look good but still got a fair bit off work to do.
Not as tight and twisty as i first thought can't wait for the first meeting. |

MSV need to update the circuit map on their website now
I guess that'll have to wait until all the corners are named though? Apart from "Brundle" does anyone know what the new corners are going to be called? |

Looks like they have managed to do more in 3 months that the Donnington fiasco managed in a year.
Looking good and my local circuit (once I get back in the car!) - lets hope the prices don't go up too much! |

Maybe restricted entry until it's properly grown? Or maybe they'll do some turfing to fast-track some areas. I remember they did that at Clearways at Brands in 2008 when they remodelled the runoff and bank there. Although the heavy weather on the first BTCC weekend that year just made a mess of it.

This excludes the 'uplift' for long distance events, which remains based on the previous capacity. |

Depends on the category (as defined in the Blue Book). I'm trying to be helpful but I can only tell you what I've been told - I have no official position other than clerking a couple of meetings in April

If you look at the circuit noise management plan it specifically states that the maximum number of starters will not increase with the development.
So I presume while the MSA maximum may increase, they will still be unable to start more than 38 due to the noise restrictions. |

Does anyone know when they are planning to open the bombhole banking? It was in the 2010 fixture guide, but appears to still not have been opened.

And in answer to the actual questions it is:
Single seaters and sports racing over 2000cc - 33 Single seaters and sports racing under 2000cc - 38 Sports and saloons - 45 (These can increase for longer races as per original circuits maximum number of starters) I find it strange that the 'Local authority' limits are based on the MSA defined category's not the noise category, meaning technically 45 touring cars could started with a noise limit of 115dB whilst a club single seater series with cars with engine capacity over 2000cc could only start 33 with a noise limit of 108dB. I believe the noise mangement plan is a voluntary, not legal/planning document so there could be scope for a change at some point. (However the maximum number of starters may have been a condition of the planning permission for the new circuit) It doesn't apply to the 12hr and 24hr races. |

The noise management plan was implemented as part of the lifting of the noise abatement order imposed when some of the locals kicked up a fuss about the noise. It is a bit more than voluntary as from the local council perspective this is core document that is referred to in any complaints etc.
Talking of noise as I sit here with windows open just stones throw from the circuit - can't hear any noise except a ***** aircraft practising aerobatics overhead - anybody got a gun !! |

I have found that the saloons, although limited to 105. generally run at much lower 'actual' levels, whereas the formula cars do tend to be 'built' to a level and so run much closer to their permitted maximum for more of the time. |
