I tried posting this before the site/internet conked out, but pole last year was a High 1:06.
So far, only McNish is below the 1:10 barrier. |

Top 5 is Audi, Intersport, Audi, Pug, Pug. If they can keep this up, it'll be one helluva race, as long as they can keep the beast that's Allan McNish in check--he's leading the session by 1.4 seconds!
Should see some flying laps from the LMPs, as the GT cars' portion of the session is nearly over. |

Surprised to see that Porsche Hybrid isn't even faster than the two Jaguars.

T&S is dead, but according to ALMSnotes, Sarazin and Truyler are 1-2 and only .04 of a second apart for fastest lap.

All in all, there is no big difference in lap time between Audi and Peugeot:
Montagny 1:07.766 Lotterer 1:08.717 McNish 1:09.174 Davidson 1:09.549 |

Average the lap times, or maybe even their positions on the charts: Audi-2,3, Peugeot-1,4 Audi averages a 2.5, and Peugeot averages a 2.5 on position. And those were just flying laps run after the GT cars left the track, and it took forever, especially McNish and Montangny, to run their fast lap. McNish was the fastest for a long time, having run a flyer in traffic, which come Saturday is what will matter the most-being fast without getting into too much trouble in traffic.
Now the work kinda starts over again, as rain showers will wash down the track tonight. One thing that will help Audi and Peugeot is that unlike the wishy-washy weather of Silverstone, conditions will be about the same through Saturday. |

As I said, look at the average. If Gwyllion is correct, that's not even .3 of a second--nothing in this type of racing, and I don't think we've seen the ultimate times that Audi or Peugeot can do yet.
I was pretty impressed with the Fassler/Trulyer/Lotterer Audi--they kept out of trouble, got into a groove, and utimtely got be be pretty fast late in the session. They can surprise like at Le Mans if they keep up a good race pace and keep out of serious trouble. |
