The sector data also has Oak with the fastest P2 trap speed at 186.374mph. Fastest DP was AER's 193.424mph.

By the time the race rolls round I suspect as the cars get dialled in things will get a bit closer.

There's also the issue that Daytona's likely to favour the horsepower (and ruggedness) of a DP, whereas others will play into the aero advantage of the LMP2.

From a personal perspective I'm quietly encouraged by what we've seen so far today - plenty of questions there, and plenty of reasons to keep watching, which I take to be a good thing.
True, seeing Sebring will be just as interesting. Daytona is the most high horsepower friendly track on the schedule, which turns out to favor the DP's the most and is not very good to LMP2 and GTLM for that matter. Sebring is a more balanced track. I bet the DP's don't break 1 min 53 there.

AER did make a 1:53.266 at Sebring in the November test, but I don't recall exactly what their engine spec was at the time (if anyone knew).

That's the Mazda?? I agree I wish they would have let us know with some design cues or logos or something.

On a serious note, I do like that color. And it appears that their mirrors and end-plates are the same color as the body and not the stock red the rest of the teams are using?

I'm trying to think of another car that I've seen with that color (race car) and I can't think of ANY car. It's unique? In fact the color is so cool I think they did a horrible job with the writing. Somehow that needs to change, it really takes away from the paint job which is fabulous.

That color is offered on new Mazdas and I think it looks great on the road cars as well.

It's similar to the red on last year's #70 Grand-Am GX class Mazda 6.

The branding scheme reminds me of the Jules and Boss liveries on the Porsche 936 and 924 Carrera GT cars at Le Mans in 1981. I like it.

Hopefully, it brings SpeedSource good luck and similar results this year.

Glad to read that Leighton Reese is at Daytona looking for a way to field an entry in the new series. I would love to see his team race a GTD Corvette or Camaro.

The #70 got a new engine between sessions, and the #7 got all kinds of repair.

In addition to that, someone already posted a gallery of nearly every single participating car for this year's Roar.

Enjoy 140+ photos.

1. Isn't "good pics of the Delta Wing" an oxymoron?

2. Is either of the Mazdas running? They don't show in the results, maybe secret without transponders??

is 900kg the pre or post adjustment weight for BoP? Last I heard they had removed the extra weight.

Awesome, thanks! It's like I'm there!

Some very intricate liveries on GTD cars, especially the #73 Park Place Porsche. SMP Ferrari looks good too. Flying Lizard R8s look GREAT with the diffuser poking out the back.
