Nothing like glowing brake rotors and flames shooting out of exhausts as cars fly around a race circuit.....

Ahh *breathe out*. I can now relax knowing full well the race will be on the grand circuit. I just hope there'll be tonnes of people coming down in classic cars and sports cars, like at le mans so I can gawp and dream of ownership, fom the seat of a 1.2 fiat punto. Also, i hope the mad TVR fans from le mans might be there.
Just cant wait for the entry list now...

Just went to buy my ticket online....

OK - £13.50 in advance.... click... click... Collect from circuit (errr. £1.50?)... errr total £15 - SAME AS ON THE GATE!?!?!

OK Silverstone, one LOST advance ticket sale. If it rains, you lose a ticket sale and I save a tank of petrol.

What's the point in selling advance tickets for the SAME price as on the gate? Especially when you try and disguise it as cheaper and then stick me with a 'fee' for collecting it from your people who will already be there SELLING tickets...?

Never liked Silverstone...For once, I have to agree with Bernie - They really DON'T give a damn about the spectators...

Cheers.

I do have a few question. I suppose majority of the people would drive to the venue for the event, how's the car parking facility then? Is that free too?

So if all I care is the LMES sports car race, when is the absolute latest I need to be at the circuit? Unfortunately I'm usually pretty tied up with things in the morning and early afternoon so I wouldn't be able to go there until, say 1600...

I would also like to know best places for taking pictures of cars up close & personal. How close can I get to the paddock area? Any photography tips for me?

Looks this is what I found from the website:

"Payment Information: Credit and debit card transactions are securely processed for you by Silverstone Motorsport Ltd. No charge is levied for this service. "

Surely this £1.50 fee can't be right?

Terry, You'll need to be there by 2 if possible to see the awesome rolling start... and I'd suggest that there might be some traffic around....
At The Ring there didn't seem to be any paddock restrictions so I'd expect you'll be able to get right in amongst it.
As for the photography there's better qualified people than me to comment, but for viewing I love the inside of Copse, the outside of the complex and the turn-in for Beckets... all awesome (esp the last)
Cheers Rick

Thanks, I'll try to get there early in that case. As an obsessive sports car fan, it'll be a cardinal sin to miss the rolling start.

OK the advance ticket system is a little strange, but you cannot miss one of the events of the year for the sake of £1.50.

I would agree with JAG on that one.....

If I lived within a tank of gas from a race that could have up to 45 cars, plus will be the "coming out party" for the new Lucchini, a little rain or 1.50 pounds couldn't keep me from going....

no way....

BTW....

This "coming out" or "unveiling" of the Lucchini...the way I understood the report, the car has been tested, but wouldn't be racing this year...

Are they just going to unveil it and maybe take some exhibition laps???

Or will the new Lucchini be in the race???

Please advise...I'm a little confused...

But that's nothing new....

Thanks!

The weekend ticket I bought saved 2 quid i think, not loads, but at least it guarantees being able to get camping. Personally, i thought a £1.50 postage charge was fairly reasonable, many ticketing agencies charges 4 pounds upwards. Also, this really is an excellent value weekend, an advance weekend pass is £18, oulton on sunday was £15, for an extra 3 quid you get FPA and most importantly the LMES. I think Silverstone are planning to organise something on the campsites as well, its the only meeting of the year where infield camping is being allowed.

Just a quick bit of information picked up from DSC. Radio Silverstone will be on air all weekend on 1602. It will be backed by Embassy Racing and there for will be know as Embassy Race Radio. This is really good news.

The Luchinnin will race at Silverstone if ready. It has tested, and will test up until the Silverstone race.

Great news!!!!!

Maybe they can spend a few $$$ (or Euros) to ship one over here to the USA for Petit????

after all, you can't sell cars to ALMS teams if they don't know what it looks like or can't see the car first-hand without flying over to Europe to get a look at it, can they???

That is great news.

I wonder if SROs enthusiasm for this British GT radio will open a few doors for RLM to cover the full LMES.

No, I'll almost certainly be there, but my annoyance is at a) the PRETENCE of a saving by buying in advance and b) a fee for collecting tickets at the circuit (if I was asking them to send them to me, I'd expect some cost), which completely nullifies the 'saving'.

It's in Silverstone's interest to get people to go to motor races (other than the Grand Bore), but this just alienates the very people who might want to attend such events...

Cheers.
