I remember my brother had one, 3.5l v6.
Scary car, first time I drove it, from a junction, I pulled through the gears normally - not gunning it in anyway - pulled 6th, glanced down at the speedo and promptly had to apply the middle pedal to get back below 3 digits and legal again. Ive driven faster (in controlled circumstances) but that was the fastest unintentionally. Last edited by ScotsBrutesFan; 15 Oct 2023 at 19:09. |

I've had two experience similar to that, but both involved BMWs. The first time was in Germany, when I went out looking to invest in a firm that would compliment my UK packaging business. One of my customers "lent" me his wife to accompany me as she German and would therefore be able to translate for me if I ran into difficulty. Anyway, I had hired a 5 series Beemer and one trip around the whole of Germany, she casually asked me whether I realised what speed we were doing, and a quick glance at the speedo told me that it was a little over 250 kmph/ 156+mph! She said she didn't mind speed, but would I tone it down just a tad. A few years later, my then partner and I were out with friends in his BMW 8 Series. He drove on the way to where ever we were going along the A1M, and as I didn't care about not drinking alcohol, I volunteered to drive us back. As we returned to his home, I found myself doing over 100 mph which the car did so effortlessly, that it caught me out; middle pedal applied gently. |

OK, we can go for shopping together then. For that reason and many others, I loved my 944 T and Miata too. I was about to buy a 929 but… pop-up headlamps apart couldn't find any reason to! Cheers!

Yes. There's a special feel in an Oldsmobile. So said the keychain of my first car.

Looking at that crane reminds me of the somewhat larger one that they assembled right through the centre of Claridges Hotel in Central London during renovations in 2020/1 in an old lift shaft. The local authority only granted them less than a day to close the road to instal the crane and the same to dismantle it at the end of the works.
During the works, they dug out underneath the hotel and created 3 or 4 basement levels to include kitchens, a spa and pool plus other facilities for the staff. They brought in a specialist tunnel building firm who were used to doing their work with hand tools. They also built extra floors on the top of the building, plus, if I'm remembering well, a rooftop swimming pool. Hence the need for the crane. Is that one of the self erecting cranes? I've never seen one during the process, and this will remind me to search on Youtube for a video. |

That’s impressive building!
As is how they put up and dismantle cranes. I read a children’s book to my kid that showed how they build themselves. |

Nice.
My mate’s got a GT in that color. Referencing our wheels on British cars conversation. I like the Rostyles. Nothing special, but I think they look good. |

And the photo could be period. The colors are all good and match the car.

These cars are utter garbage compared to the wood paneled Wagoneers and their all driven by cocks. Well, the Wagoneer is on a yellow curb...

What was most impressive is that, from memory, the renovations, etc. started when the hotel was empty due to Covid restrictions, but after they were lifted, they re-opened the hotel to paying customers yet still managed to carry on the work without major disturbances to those paying the big bucks. All done by allocating semi noisy hours and absolute quiet hours. And finished on time, too! Although I think that it went slightly over budget because they hit a few very unexpected problems. |

I needed them to fix my roof! That did not finish on time, but more importantly did not go over budget! |
