That's probably about the only DNA left. Of course they weren't going to stay at the old shed at Ockham when BAT bought them out

I think if you change the baseline company you don't get your mits on some of the FIA goodies.

That is certainly why BAR started with Tyrell. In fact it was just to get entry. Do you think they need to keep the same company number?
Has that happened with Jordan/Spyker/Force India/Racing Point? |

Previous company names Name Period SPYKER F1 LIMITED 24 Oct 2006 - 31 Oct 2007 SPYKER MF1 LIMITED 06 Oct 2006 - 24 Oct 2006 MIDLAND F1 LIMITED 14 Nov 2005 - 06 Oct 2006 JORDAN GRAND PRIX HOLDINGS LIMITED 28 Oct 1998 - 14 Nov 2005 IIRC, when Racing Point became involved, the existing team had been excluded from the championship. So a new company was needed, who also took on the existing entry. They were forced to retain the 'Force India' for 2018 to meet the requirements of the constructor entry, but were able to drop this from 2019 onwards. I'm not sure how it affected the FIA 'benfits' for the team, but I expect they were less valuable when the team became Force India? Racing Point UK Limited and Racing Point UK Holdings Ltd are new companies incorporated in Aug 2018. |

The payment of prize funds to Racing Point has caused controversy.
'According to a schedule seen by RaceFans, Liberty Media will award a column one payment to Racing Point. This is despite the team being admitted to the championship last year as a new entrant, which prompted claims that it should not qualify for column one revenue as it has not fulfilled the requirement to finish in the top 10 twice in the previous three championships.' It should also be noted, particularly in the context of Williams' value, that Ferrari receive a Long-Standing Team payment, and Williams are one of the teams receives a constructors’ championship bonus and an additional 'other' bonus. |

'One potential problem is that FIA rules mean that a team cannot change its name mid-season. In September 2006, when Spyker bought the Midland F1 Racing team, it used the Spyker name as a headline sponsor: "Spyker MF1 Racing". This year it was allowed to change the team's name to "Spyker Formula 1" but it may have to retain the Spyker name.

In simple terms, yes. It's about the Concorde Agreement that each team (constructor) individually signs up to, and the fact that a portion of the money is based on the previous 3 years' results, and the money is paid in monthly instalments starting in around April/May of the following year. So, in the case you refer to, the points awarded in the previous year were awarded to Force India, not Racing Point which possibly didn't even exist when the points were awarded. |

I think Bernie had tired of paying off the creditors of bankrupt F1 teams that were still on the grid with a new name and claiming the previous year's championship money. |

A nearly but not quite weekend for Williams in Austria. Russell nearly made it into Q2 and Latifi nearly scored a point, albeit the last of the runners.
Still, with the reports of them being limited for cooling it is a big improvement on the last couple of years. Dont think they will be on the podium any time soon but fingers crossed it signifies the start of a renaissance of sorts. |

Latifi was slow and despite George's efforts, they still look a way of scoring points on merit and you would imagine the other teams will et on top of early reliability issues. This weekends re-run of the race will be interesting. |

It was gutting for Russell. If it hadn't been for that mechanical failure, he almost certainly would have been in the points. Then again we would have had a very different race if he hadn't broke down and caused a SC

They should have scored a point in that race, with so few runners actually not having problems, but they were still well behind everyone but Hass and the what ever the alfa romeo team is called this year.

P12 for Russell is a damn good result. Only a tenth and a bit from Q3. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow in the dry.

Indeed, Leclerc dropped to 14th behind Russell(up to 11th) Stroll and Kvyat, who Leclerc had impeded to get the penalty.

Let’s see if he can mix it with the cars around at the very best. Williams need all the morale boosters they can get atm

I dont think anyone has mentioned it, but having Russell push the car up the grid off the back row should be showing potential purchasers/investors that Williams has more value than it did this time last year. So kudos to them for moving forward. I hope the teams does well today.
