I was reading Webbers latest book and he has a chapter devoted to Le Mans 99. Crazy stuff.

Earl Bamber will replace Klaus Bachler in the #88 Proton Porsche, for the next two races, due to ADAC GT Masters clashing with the WEC races.

But perhaps their emergence has some others in the Porsche stable looking at their options?

Archie Hamilton to replace Zoel Amberg at Morand for Nurburgring 6 Hours.
Bad luck for Amberg, not sure if it's been announced what his medical reasons are but I hope he's able to recover quickly. But bad luck for one driver is good luck for another. Hopefully Hamilton is able to turn this into a seat for the rest of the season. |

Hamilton deserves better than having to rely on IGTO for a reliable race seat. Hopefully he can take over full time if Amberg cannot return (although I hope he does come back to Morand, or at least makes a full recovery in time for next year).

International GT Open? Makes sense that the series has slid so far down the pecking order that its acronym has been supplanted by a country's tourism office!
We've come a long way from the "glory days" of GT2 cars and Manthey doing a full season, but that's for another thread. Edit - I don't think Hamilton has even been in the series this year, but he has been a regular over the last couple and it was odd that he wasn't picked up for much else at the time. Pretty unlikely they would want to leave such a sure thing for what might be only a two or three year flyer. Besides, in addition to access to Ganassi's whole stable there are lots of very good drivers out there with no or mediocre rides for Ford to consider.

For the US tv viewers among us: first 2 hours of the Ring will be shown live on FoxSport2 starting at 7 am ET and the final 4 hours on FXS1 (9am-1pm ET).

Quick question.
LMP1 is Michelin's domain, but is this due to regs allowing only one tyre supplier, or does everyone just choose to go with Michelin? |

It's open tires but no-one else just wants to show up, the last non-Mics were Dunlop-equipped Oak open top and Dunlop-equipped Dyson Lolas in 2012
Ring was the first ILMC/WEC race to have no tire war in any of the classes, although in theory all are still open ELMS has spec-Dunlops in GTE & GT3 and spec-Michelins in LMP3, but LMP2 is still free and there you have the only actual tire competition left in ACO racing with few teams running Michelins With Falken going away US GTE will be all Mics too next year and the other three classes are obviously all spec-Hoosier-Contis, so nothing there either. Even though only few years ago GT2 alone had 4-5 makes With LM dried up too (although that is the only WEC exception as few ELMS teams have their own tires from the regional series there spicing up the variety) the only real tire competition arena now is Super GT Last edited by Deleted; 3 Sep 2015 at 21:23. |

Apparently Stefan Mucke is dropping COTA for the last round of the Blancpain endurance series at the Nurburgring to be with Oman Racing. I'm guessing that this is Astons decision not his. A bit unexpected.
