This may have been covered, if it has im really sorry. If they cant use the Vanwall name why dont they just call it something else? like Kolles Hyper 1 or something?

because only OEMs can homologate LMHs, or to better say it doesn't matter who actually builds the car, it has to be officially registrated/homologated under the name of an OEM. Glickenhaus had some hard time to be recognized as OEM by ACO despite being an actual OEM fo real, so speaking about kolles, guess using an old and dead brand like vanwall was a cheap and not so great way to work around that rule (such a surprise). |

* you no longer have to build road cars and there's no road version of the Toyota * being a manufacturer isn't enough - the ACO has to like you - see Big Jim. |

It’s mad, what with Kolles with a competitive car just waiting to race.
I think it is a shame that privateers aren’t allowed here, but the lack of Kolles is not the reason. |

The only difference is that IMSA are more honest about their requirement for activation spending, and the wider use of global manufacturers to promote the series.
Not that Kolles is the best stick to beat either them or the ACO with (Glickenhaus would be a better bet), but there will always be an element of choosing beggars when it comes to entrants, particularly now that we're on the cusp of up to 10 manufacturers taking part between LMH & GTP. |

HyperLMPDCarH thing: Original rule set abandoned. 2 manufacturers, one of which they don't want. An old LMP1 which has been crippled because it's 15 seconds a lap faster than the car they want to win. LMP2: Incredible teams with no where to go since they're banned from Hypercar. 1 manufacturer because, literally, nobody is allowed to build cars right now. Now has a Pro-Am class, despite already being a Pro-Am class. Which means it has a Pro-Am and a Pro-Am-As-F**k class. GTE Pro: An expensive class where you get slowed down after spending money. They are not the only ones, just the most obvious one. GTE Am: Requires GTE Pro to survive to feed them cars - it is not surviving. Unfortunately ByKolles are an innocent casualty of the ACOs inability to run a racing series. |

because ACO doesn't care if a LMH is made directly by the OEM (toyota) or outsourced (glick 007 = podium + pipo), they want manufacturers involving their LMH programs to the homologation period. A private team/manufacturer, as shown in recent past by ginetta and SMP, can't give guarantees on long term programs. |

That was a different kind of cooperation betweeen Audi and Dallara, Audi was still responsible for the majority of the development. Here pretty much everything is outsourced but after all, is that a problem? I wouldn't say so, you can't expect a small manufacturer to have the resources to pull off such a project themselves. And the Mazda DPi had literally nothing to do with Mazda and no one complained, they were racing without any homologation issues The main difference between Glickenhaus and Kolles is that the former is a serious player while the latter... well, I guess silence will be the best comment possible. If those rumors about them using the pre-2014 LMP2 chassis one more time with more fancy bodywork are true, I wouldn't expect them to pass homologation even after they sort out their naming thing.

I do wonder if anyone realistically expects to see Kolles appear at all. It seems to have been a lot of hot air, but very few evidence of an actual project being worked on properly. Seems just all a pipe dream a lot of the time. Glickenhaus made sure the project was ready before announcing their intentions. That's the right way to do it and it's worked

Not only it exists, it also moves (at least in the straight line for limited time) But all in all, I think we'll never see them on the grid

Well it's another step, but people quite rightly won't believe anything until they see it actually driven in anger.

Some of the quotes from Dillman start positive but then leave room for doubt:

You're one of those anti-Kolles people.
