I'm sure OAK will be able to sell lots of parts for their current closed P2 car before shipping the current cars off to Asia after 2016/2017 to let them race in the Asian series until the end of 2018.

And it sounds like OAK is looking to set up some sort of joint venture with HPD for their American base!

Quote:
It [Onroak] recently hired Honda Performance Development engineer Ethan Bregman to also serve as Onroak’s U.S. representative, and further plans for expansion in the coming months.

“Onroak Automotive USA has been created administratively and it’s our obligation to be there for the time being,” Dumas said. “One of our thoughts is to do something with Honda Performance Development [in the future].”

PointDSM is a back marker
That reads to be correct. However, the Standard is a race-by-race charge, whereas the Premium is for "Full Season". Basically, it's a discount to do the full season (up front).

So standard is 13,500 per race?

That looks to be right, but only the premium members are eligible for the year end points fund. Also it seems the premium membership has some perks like annual hard cards for the crew and use of the VIP Paddock club so the VIP's can feel super special.

The year end prize fund is $1,5m and the NAEC prize fund is $100k. Yet Atherton was talking something about $4m. What is that?

Huh? Standard $13,500 + $122,250 =$135,750
v.s Premium $35,500 + $ 69,000 + $104,500
Just on the entry fees alone the PREMIUM is less for a full season. Also there are other things included, such as 10 crew license fees and credentials (License fee = $100. each and Creds = $450. each) as well as some perk stuff.

The other $2.4M was needed to construct the VIP Paddock club.

There is also purse (prize) money awarded for/at every race.

Haha, bad typo, of course I meant Premium costs less. Which is why I was confused by the nomenclature.

Sounds like the Lexus campaign is a given at this point:

http://sportscar365.com/gt/lexus-rc-...ing-finalized/

Somewhere someone mentioned Team Walker as the (possible) selected team to run the car(s) - that should make a good fit. GTD is gonna be busy!

Vision out of the car seems pretty poor if the drivers are already bringing it up. Nonetheless it will be nice to see on track!

Question: In your opinion should the GTD category get rid of pro-am requirements? I think there could be a case for it. But I am interested in pros versus cons.

They could. Let the amateurs compete with the full pros and see what they're worth, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that (I am not a fan of amateur specific classes anyway). But then there hardly would be any difference to GTLM I suppose.

Not sure what the reason behind your question is though, IMSA has no thoughts whatsoever to make such changes to the class. Care to explain?

FLGTFAN has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
There is not going to be a boom of anything as long as the powers that be insist on managing GT3 as the bottom rung on their performance hierarchy. I see the class becoming a default R8 vs GT3R "challenge". It would suit the business model.

That should make all the other drivers feel much safer.

I'd also like to add that a potential boom likely is for 2-3 races (the big ones). Regular season entries are another matter

With all these luxury brands race at Daytona next year you think cadillac might enter?

They could at least have a customer program ready.

Or the Nissan GT-R GT3 car for that matter? Currently, it's competing with other marques a Pirelli World Challenge.

No.

GM/Pratt and Miller don't do customer.

They do corporate partnerships with those who are able to build the brand, and have the financial means to run it appropriately.. The single C7R run in the WEC is a very tight ship, and if GM chose to pull the plug tomorrow, they would and can.

A Nissan seems more likely than a Bentley (let alone the Cadillac) but then again I wouldn't count on it, right now at best I guess the odds are 50/50???

Remember this from early last year - it never materialized and Nissan went PWC in 2015 with Always Evolving/AIM.
