The way the ACO have gone you're going to have the very best GT3 cars, with the self-imposed limitations of a Thomas Flohr or a Christian Ried behind the wheel. I wish they hadn't mandated a bronze and had gone a different way but I understand the decision that was made. I'm sure the factories are happy to spend other people's money, but now the class is this well subscribed, I wonder if it could shift in the future, or split in half to a silver mandate in one car for instance. That would give all the OEMs a bit more control, rather than pitting your hopes on Takeshi Kimura to get it done for you. And to make matters even more complicated, if you do find a rapid bronze they better not be too rapid, as they risk getting upgraded a year later. Lots to think about. |

I agree on the Bronze mandate. I'm going to miss pro GT battles but I understand how we got here. Easier to go Pro-Am now and have the all Pro option later than the other way around.

This could be a rather substantial development:
https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...rsports-shift/ Not sure but this could be the first official confirmation Honda/Acura is actively looking into a WEC campaign: https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...m-with-arx-06/ Then again, it could just be another preparation step in the lead up to the AM partnership in 2026. |

Yeah this has to be good news in getting everything aligned. The irony is that by the time they commit they'll have sat out two years in which they probably had the best chance of success at Le Mans.
With the Toyota dominance it would be great to see another Japanese flagged manufacturer on the grid - which I assume this tie-up would enable. |

The more likely scenario is having WTR/Andretti do Le Mans in '24, then build two more cars for the WEC team in '25. More sensible that way...

I don't believe you can do LM next year in Hypercar without a full-season commitment to the WEC. In theory. A truckload of Yen might fix that, but I doubt it.

The only other way is for Honda to commission Oreca to build two more chassis and have them ready for both homologation and be racing by the third race of the WEC season. No mean feat, but I don't see that happening...

The ACO are in the privileged position to effectively be able to pick and choose. I don't think even Honda's clout alone will be enough to get on the list without a commitment to the full season of WEC.
Honda seem to have a slow-and-steady plan regardless, so I won't be holding my breath for anything more than WTR/Andretti for next year. |

2024 has already been ruled out and with the oversubscribed grid, there's very little chance to see an one-off towards the end of the season as well.

Exactly that, everyone involved has said no chance on 24. 25 is a discussion and likely a can we get it in your tunnel and get a LM invite program over a full WEC. Can't hurt to ask and see what happens, especially if they're the IMSA champs in 24

Caddy have been testing at Imola ahead of its addition to next year's calendar. Wet and dry running.

and remember, this is still with a10K rpm limitation for LMDh. Not bad, Cadillac...
Should be good for '24 season, with everyone doing their upgrades testing right now. |

There's video titles saying its an evo version for 2024. Anyone notice any difference from this year's car?

With the cars for next season, the changes and upgrades are more internal. Mainly software and power train management systems, as last year was the inaugural for LMDh. All the 'bugs' should be shaken out, and will be more competitive with LMH.

I think now is the right time to say that I'm ambivalent about Aston in LMH, after the in-and-out they pulled at the onset of the regulation discussions.
But another car is never a bad thing. Gives me a team to firmly root against at least! |

In any case, there will be at least two Aston Martin in GT3 (Heart of Racing or D'Station maybe). I think this announcement prepares the entry for two LMH cars which allow automatically two cars in GT3.
It won't be the same for Mercedes and Audi in GT3. |
