However there is only a narrow bridge a couple of klms long to get onto the Island and another narrow 10klms road from there to the track is always a long bumper to bumper traffic jam . Traffic is not smooth flowing and delays certainly leaving the Island after will be horrific. So yeah double the normal time as all the peripheral roads leading to PI also clog up. Not so bad with say 20,000 people for the Historic meet compared to many times more for the MotoGP Helicopter is the way for the chosen few to travel! Not for me though I shall watch from my comfy recliner with a bottle of red! Last edited by E.B; 9 Sep 2024 at 12:35. |

The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while but finally confirmed over the weekend was the split of Repsol and Honda after 3 decades together. Also championships with Mick Doohan, Alex Criville, Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner and Marc Marquez.
Repsol say they intend to continue their links to motorsport in terms of "...continuing to develop products and services of the highest quality.” Does that mean we should expect to see Repsol stickers on another manufacturer / team? |

"Schummy style" classification:
J Martin 341 pts F Bagnaia 317 pts E Bastianini 282 pts M Marquez 281 pts. It seems the long lasting honey moon of Ducati and Pramac is dead and buried now, Martin didn't look very happy on the podium during the 100th victory celebration. Maybe he should keep his mouth tight for a while… |

Well it looks like we might now only have two contenders for the MotGP Crown given the DNFs for MM93 and Bastianini. Great ride from Acosta too.
Still a chance we will not see the #1 on a Ducati next year. |

Yes, Acosta coming back on front is great and the two French riders entering the top 10 is good news. But maybe it's going too far to think that Japanese teams are sorted now.
# Guthrie: agreed!! |

Swan song for what could be called two lame ducks. When you think they have now a special allowance to test and develop! Incredible.

Yep! My 10pcs, Pecco and Marc. I wonder if they have a "gasoline alley" in Australia, could be interesting for a monster refuel…

Australian round at PI this weekend. Not off to a good start....
After a few days of beautiful weather it all turned to merde today. Torrential rain all day. So much so that bikes could not even venture on track. After a 2 hour delay MotoGP FP1 was cancelled. Later in the day after lunch it looked a bit clearer. The Moto 2s went out. All looked good, until the famous PI Geese arrived. Quite happy to sit and waddle around on track as raced raced a foot or two away. So that brought out the reds. What you might call "Apex" Predators. On a serious note I have seen then bring down motorbikes racing at PI before. Video of the goose action at PI with the bikes racing by in the link below https://x.com/MotoGP/status/1847114251929821480 Hopfully things get better at PI> |

Glad to say that the weather cleared, the rain stopped and P2 went ahead.
The earlier rain didnt seem to trouble the riders though and for what was their first practice (despite being P2) on a barely dry track, times of 1:27.770 were happening... Jorge Martin's outright qualy record is I think a 1:27.2 so they are not hanging about.. Anyway its a Marquez 1-2 in the practice we have had with Martin and Bagnaia 4th and 5th with Bezzechi 3rd. |

I'm convinced that everybody on the forum can mesure the luck we have to have our very own local reporter. Merci EB. And guess who, its for free! At this point of this crazy season dominated by red bikes, Foreveryoung Marquez apart, I don't support anyone anymore his actual team is not worth any injury. They must work and put a proper bike on the track first.

Great save from the rider that got hit by the geese. The geese knocked him into the path of another bike that went down. I believe the only injury, other than to one of the geese, was the rider struck by the goose broke or injured his shoulder in the goose impact with him. Note the speed reading on the dash at the impact was 180 kmh https://youtu.be/XPWuZZRQcm0 |

Thanks for this EB. Could not read the goose race number tho… Male or female? Was it dsq'ed after the race? We're missing good info here, sometimes… As to geese causing crashes, please report to the "avia-tion" thread and type Sully.
