simply outstanding qualy-roumble! it seems that FIA dragged the F1 voyeurism also in WEC with the real time telemetry during onboard at least now we know that R18 revs around 4500rpm, TS040 around 8500rpm and 919 close to 8000rpm

And apparently the R18 tops out at ~275km/h. Surely they're going to get pounced on in the early laps.

S2 is R18 playground, S1 and S3 smiles to porsche and toyota. Anyway 919 was running with an extreme low ride height judging by the sparks

Traffic was key today! Lieb got a nice lap without much lmp2 traffic and made it count. The Audi and Toyota were stuck The #3 Audi is nowhere, theyll need a lot of work to get those guys up the order. The race should be intense, can't wait!

When that Porsche gets pointed straight it looks like a rocket. Great to see them on pole with one of my favorite drivers in Marc Lieb!

This just has the makings for a difficult race for Audi. With no straightline speed they'll get stuck in traffic, never be able to pass the other P1's. Is something really amiss with the BOP? Or is Audi sandbagging.

Anyone (me included) who questioned whether Lieb would have the speed in a P1 car just got their answer.

I wonder why Audi wouldn't put Marc Gene in the #3 so they have a seasoned LMP driver in the lineup.

Fantastic for Porsche! Well deserved and just what the team needs to gain confidence.
Tomorrow is another story. As for Qualifying: I'm with Sam Collins on this. Its not my favorite way, but I will admit that today it was pure excitement. It is also clear that the WEC needs to allow tire changes during qualy to make it really exciting. |

Great and exciting qualifying. Good job from Porsche, but I have a feeling that #8 will be on P1 after the first lap... :>
Audi will have a difficult race. Even if they can keep up in terms of lap times, they will have trouble with passing traffic and especially the other P1 cars. |

I can only think they did the deal with Jota but didn't want to go back on it once circumstances changed? Quite a few people think there might be a deeper relationship between the two teams than just drivers. |

Only way I can see Audi winning Spa right now is if their high downforce cars are better on their tires than Toyota and Porsche are. They need a more experienced hand in the #3 to get the best out of it.
The lap time is there, but nowadays, I'd rather be fast down the straights than in the corners, though to be fair, the LM spec Toyota last year struggled with it's tires and in traffic once the tires faded. But then again, tomorrow will be cold, and that could be a saving grace for the low downforce Toyota and Porsche packages. Audi are tons faster in sector 2, but it balances out in sectors 1&3. |
