Hey hey! those are only 1/2 truths!

Shall we just say said competitors didn't get a good write up in AA... admittedly they did cause a fair hunk of carnage

BTW- crash helmet under arm- reminds me of the bit written in AA this week abou John Goss-
"Best Memory- Goss boarding a flight at Tulermarine, helmet under his arm and still in his driving suit, having rushed straight from a F5000 race at Calder. 'What a ****er!' you're thinking. Yeah, that's what we all thought back then. But that was so typical of 'The Goose'."

And by the way, it aint all easy work for the media at friday of race meetings- see below 'before' and 'after' shots

gmontrack.
At last a sensible reply,I have never said the people running the class were d1ckheads etc and as you rightly point out the rules need constant adjustment. What adjustments have been made in the last 18 months to contain costs and clear up "grey" areas that have arisen, can you tell me?From the outside it appears to be a free for all and I would be interested to know what has been done to improve things, has anyone been caught with an illegal part on the car?Sorry not to include my family tree and blood group to validate my opinion

My current information is the Wakefield Round isn't being called the Power Tour any more - but will try and find out later in the week while I am there for the ProCar meeting.

Onlooker...a little bit of information is a dangerous thing. If you would like to supply an email address (a private message is fine) I will happily send you a full copy of the Commodore Cup Technical Regulations (which all Commodore Association members have and are quite happy with) so that you can become a little more informed on the subject.

The reason you would have noted a range of different air intake systems is that under the technical regs formulated, approved and maintained by the members of the Commodore Racing Association, air-cleaners are "FREE", as are exhaust systems and one or two other parts on the car. Why is that? Because the approach has always been that if it is too hard to properly enforce a regulation (as it would be with air cleaners and exhausts) then those items are made free.

The use of carbon fibre (which in most cases that I am aware of is just carbon matting laid over fibreglass for appearance) is limited to such vital components as the rear parcel-shelf, gear-box tunnel cover, dashboard gauge backing plate and that's about it....total weight savings from using this instead of aluminium - 6.7 grams.

There have been only a small number if irregularities detected by the series Technical Commissioner, who oversees scrutineering at EVERY round of the series, and I am sure any competitor you spoke to would be happy to enlighten you about some of those issues and probably also convey to you their satisfaction with the level of scrutineering and the general compliance with the rules by ALL competitors.

All engines are measured and sealed by an authorised sealer prior to being permiited for use in a race. The list of items checked regularly is extensive and incudes gear-ratios, wheelbase, track, fuel, rev-limiter operation, racing-weight, camshaft profile, carburettor etc. etc. etc.

Maybe sometime you should check the results - have a look at how close the times are. At Oran Park Round 1 the guy in 10th was about 0.3 seconds off pole - doesn't seem that anyone is geting much of an advantage out of bending those 'thin' rules you haven't read yet!!

The Technical Regulations are discussed at every Annual General Meeting of the Commodore Association, and EVERY member can have a say in what changes, if any, are required. If the guys competing in the class are happy with the regulations and how they are being enforced, why should someone like yourself who doesn't own a car (and clearly hasn't spoken to anyone involved)be concerned about it??

Power Tour did not supply any tapes to Ten. You should not
blame ten for the no show of Mallala.

The commentary on the Power Tour tonight on Fox was pure rubbish.Allan Gurr 16 ? HQ with column shifts, Murray Walker eat your heart out

just looked at the super touring web site the news that the John Henderson owned Vectra has been purchased by the OMP team in Qld and will be race at Wakefield Park, Winton and Oran Park . Another car for the series ,great news

Who will drive the Nissan now? cars are now being offered for sale the Millar Camry and the Robson BMW they must see a market for their cars. Hope they can see some sence and race them, both those cars would be great to see back in action. The Camry goes great at Wakefield Park.

Yeah, Miller was able to be quite fast with that car last season, any reason why he isn't keen on racing it himself anymore?
