Well I'm about to release a new track to see if I can try and kick things back into gear around here.
It's a great track, some really interesting layouts and corners. Great stuff! |

Just uploading a slightly redone version of your track with some of the changes mentioned.
Again it's still nowhere near done, I just want it to a point where we're both pretty happy with how it's looking as a track itself I enjoyed this lap. I'm still not 100% about the hairpins that go one after the other. As much as it really works as far as creating overtaking ops, I still want them opened up. And in fairness, alot of the lap is pretty quick, so it does make sense to have the slower corners, but it's totally up to you. You'll notice they are most definitely alot wider now. See what you think! It'll be done in about 10-15 minutes Selby |

I love it!!! Loving the changes to T2-5. It looks really hard to get right and it tricks you into thinking you can go faster than you actually can. The elevation is also really good. I like how you've made T13 blind on entry. I think the hairpins should stay. the first one will create overtaking and the second one should if it works similarly to the last sector at Istanbul. If it doesnt then it should create a compromise in set up, creating overtaking elsewhere. This is going to be brilliant when its finished!!

Pwaaaaah! That's track porn that is
Love it - Bit of everything. Looks like quite a modern day facility. Glad there's an option to 'slow down' that back straight with the mental turn at the end of it! Fantastic stuff. Would like to make this one after the one i'm making now Some massive progress on the track btw - I had to open out the hairpins ever so slightly more. They are kind of like a Magny Cours style hairpin now, and it works brilliantly. They're still about 90mph, so it's "slow", but not that slow. Just starting to add the grandstands, gravel, tarmac run off, barriers, and kerbs (yes - it really is as much as it sounds lmao). Selby |

What is your scale... how wide is the track as you've drawn it?
There are several places where the barrier is really quite close to the track, perhaps only a quarter of the track width away. My own rule of thumb is never less than half a track width away. My tracks are usually 14.5 metres wide with the closest barrier 7.5m away. |

Couldn't agree more! Would love to get some feedback. Friends are really enjoying it so far.
It's now even better - got more walls, tyre walls, more terrain - looking good! Selby |

No problem - will upload one in a moment.
Selby -- EDIT - I did have to make a few changes but nothing at all severe. For instance, I put in one or two extra grandstands, and I also added a bit of banking to the first complex. Makes it a real challenge. Also, I opened out the hairpins slightly, and hopefully you'll agree that they still give you the disered result but at a better speed. I've also added alot of trees and other bits too, just to fill it out and make it feel more like an environment. I'm pretty proud of this one. Probably spent about 12 or so hours on it i'd say, so yeah, it's turned out pretty good. I'd like to tinker with the AI slightly and get some of their lines slightly better, but as you'll see in the video, on high difficulty setting, they're quite a handful! Tadaaa!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8p97YYkfLXk It's a bit of a physical first lap but still, you get the picture! Selby -- EDIT - I'll probably also capture just a full on-board lap when I got some time, too. |

Thanks again!! I like all the little tweaks you added to the track especially the banking to the complex. I think the AI need a bit of tweakimg but I think when racing against real people online, it will be epic.

Cheers dude - Have to say, great design, too. My pals were very complimentary towards it. I said I couldn't take any credit for it, unfortunately :laugh
Yeh the AI through the first real complex could be slightly better, and the hairpins that go back on themselves. I'd say the rest is all pretty good. Cannot wait for others to give it a shot. Once I find out how to upload it properly, i'll stick it on rfactorcentral. Selby |

What is the software allows you to create a full track from one Jpg image?
Is it an Add-on for a game or some standalone product? |

Brilliant program. Had many frustrating hours (still do at times!) trying to work out bits and bobs, but i'm getting there. It can produce tracks for rFactor and Richard Burns Rally, and possibly another. And thanks, Dylan! Selby -- EDIT - And to you rFactor users, here's the playable track: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ECROWSNM |

Thanks for the comments. I think this is one of the best ive done in terms of graphics but im unsure of it layout-wise. Ive used tarmac run-off and gravel on the mountain section to try and make it safer.

What a great idea! Very interesting concept indeed. Looking at this I was actually imagining that this would work quite well as a type of endurance race with the mountain part of the circuit being public mountain roads that are then closed off Le Mans-style.
I think in parts it looks a little too tight and dodgy for full-out racing, but a few tweaks would solve this I think. If I was to do it, I think I would have a permanent part of the track down on the "valley floor" if you like, and then have the mountain roads built separately and used only temporarily for some sort of "Mountain Endurance Race". I think I'd also soften up a few of the gradients too. However, I absolutely love the idea and really like your layout as it stands anyway, there are some great corners here, and a lovely contrast between the mountain section and the 'valley floor' section. Overall, I'd say great idea, and great execution (even if I would have done it slightly differently myself) |

The only reason i didnt make a full track on the valley floor is because i didnt think there would be enough space imo. I'll definetly have a try and squeeze a loop around the main grandstand without trying to comprimise the full track.
