A good race, and good work done by many teams. I would have wished for different winners in multiple classes, but that doesn't ruin a very entertaining race.

What a cracking race, thoroughly entertaining from start to finish, great advert for WEC.

Delighted to see Peugeot on the podium and wondering what might have been without those gear change issues.

Congrats to Ben Keating!

Great race indeed!

The results might not be final for a while though with those late race penalties appearing

I have been questioning that myself. At Le Mans, their fastest driver was not comparable to Verrone. I guess that is still the case? But like I wrote up-thread, they seem to be in the hunt until the latter part of the race. That was the case again this time, so I imagine they probably are lacking a bit in strategy. There where no shortage of fast Porsches, so I gather the car is good enough.

I don’t think so. F1 was an embarassement. But today Toyota was simply better. 50 took a risk changing tyres but simply lacked pace and most of all straightline speed (setup?), 51 was unlucky, but in the end they tried not to change tyres and were easely got by Hartley. So in the end they tried everything even splitting strategy but didn’t work. So 2nd and 5th is not bad I thing.

They were one of the cars (along with the 51 and someone else) who had to come in for emergency service during the second safety car. That lost them a lot of ground. But the reason they are competitive early in races is Bovy stacking up very well vs other bronzes. She's so good they briefly made her a silver over the off-season.

That's interesting data! So Verrone is better than their best and Bovy is good compared to bronzes.

I had missed they did emergency service. I was away during that time so I must have missed it.

That's also some interesting data. If the #51 did stay out, that validate Ferrari's option to put some new boots on #50 even though they had track position on the Toyota. A bit strange they lacked straightline speed, as they seemed to have quite a bit of that earlier in the year. Maybe that was something with the setup. I totally agree 2nd and 5th is pretty decent. Considering how well Toyota runs, that Ferrari is this close in their first year is seriously impressive!

Toyotats03OUS should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
#8 Toyota demoted for exceeding power limit in WEC Monza race.

https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/...race/10494085/

"Sebastien Buemi, Ryo Hirakawa and Brendon Hartley had recovered from two separate time penalties to extend its championship lead over the Le Mans 24 Hours-winning #51 Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar on its home turf.

But a bulletin issued by the stewards hours after the race stated that the GR010 HYBRID LMH had exceeded "the maximum released powertrain power" stipulated by the Balance of Performance, which is governed by the technical regulations.

The offence, which occurred on lap 190 of 200, was the car's second infringement of the race after it received a reprimand for the same issue on lap seven."

Wow spikey spikey. A bad day compounded for the 8.

The only crumb of consolation for them is that the 51 also lost a place post-race.

The championship is really heating up nicely. First time in many years caring about that.

Actually looking at the Bpillar stint averages - Gatting was actually the best silver in GT-Am, slightly edging Varrone. Bovy had a nice advantage on all other bronzes.

So I'm not sure. Maybe it was just that emergency service which hurt them. The 51 Ferrari nudged Frey late on but I'm not sure that led to any position loss.

I chose two comparisons. The class winner and the Corvette:

Yup, 8 received an over power penalty of stop plus 5, not served so plus 45 seconds as well. Dropped them behind 5 and 51. And apparently it is not appealable decision either, over 507kw on lap 190.

Too happy that the very much and very very well deserved post race penalties, F1 and WEC, dont change the podium order and wreck the pictures. Some will see pure coincidence I personnalt see TGS'hand, the god of speed. So, again its not only the ACO!

Great race for Peugeot and seemed to be very competitive overtaking there. Who needs wings?

Vanwall seems to be going backwards performance wise vs all the other guys. Driver line-up got better in consistency but lost sheer speed. Engine keeps breaking while it should not, pit-stops are really slow (or hampered by recurring issues). The latter maybe the reason (ignition troubles ?) they chose not to do a splash at the end of the race and lost more than 30" (and a place to the belated Peugeot) in the last stint.

At least they finished without major problem. I hope they can identify the flaw in their design (cooling ? aero ?) and correct it sooner rather than later. No BoP can save them now.
