So what if 125K are watching the races?--How many are really going to buy an Audi or Merc after watching the races? While I love the DTM, I'm afraid it will soon disppear again in a few years if more manufacturers don't show up. PS: I do love the DTM and touring cars so you can't question my loyalty there. |

i agree that DTM needs more manufacturers, but the cars (04) are already made it needs a team to run them, not mothball the 4 currant "04" cars

Besides budget reasons I think there's an agreement between Mercedes and Audi to enter each 10 cars (4 new, 4 1-year old and 2 2-year old cars). If Audi enters an extra car, Mercedes will do too. If Mercedes enters a car for a woman, Audi will do too. IMO DTM is a very artificial championship. Last edited by FIRE; 1 Jan 2007 at 13:31. |

Just a crying shame over the real DTM: the one which ran on the Deutsch Group A rules... (and they ran on the Nordscheleife, on AVUS, on the old Hockenheimring....) |

If they sell the '04 cars for cheap, they gotta find teams capable of running them properly. Especially for MB/Audi, they seem very concerned that a poorly run/financed team would make their cars and their brand look bad. But BMW doesn't seem to care, if you have money, they'll sell you a car? Last edited by kmchow; 1 Jan 2007 at 21:06. |

Do you think Richard will get a drive in DTM for 2007? I am a supporter of his and would love to see him in DTM, it will be an excuse to do what I have been hoping to do for a couple of seasons and see some racing outside the UK! Which rounds would you recommend I try to get to, are the drivers and paddock easy to get to or are they kept away from the paying public?

According to http://touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=892 Mercedes has chosen Paul di Resta over Yelmer Buurman, Esteban Guerriri, Norbert Siedler and Casper Elgaard.
My guess on Mercedes lineup:

MotorsTV commentator for DTM Mark Cole posted this on the MotorsTV forums the 17th of December. In the same post, he said that it had been in his possession for a couple of weeks

Autosport.com are today reporting that Paffet could return to the DTM, but in a 2006 spec car. Not really a good situation for Gary if you ask me, he deserves a 2007 spec car but it appears Norbert Hauug doesent want to change his line up. Personally I would put Paffet in one of the factory cars over Hakkinen or Green any day of the week.

The problem is they already have signed 4 drivers for 2007 cars and how i understand Haug, having 5 new cars is way more complicated than running 4, for whatever reasons.

True but they could always give the team Paffet is racing for a 2007 spec machine. He could run a 2007 spec car via a independent team surely? Providing of course Mercedes want to. Want being the operative word.

Would Hakkinen accept an older car considering his contributions to MB in F1? I guess the Jacques Villeneuve/DTM rumors didn't pan out? That's a shame. If raced in the DTM, I'm sure he would generate more interest/coverage from Canada. But I'm proud Canada has Spengler to represent them! |

Has any new sponsors been announced. I assume Veltins is out of the DTM while Phillips was announced a while back. Any new sponsors?

Villeneuve does Le Mans and LMES for Peugeot next year, so we are not yet rid of him :-)
