According to Sander Dorsman, on www.autosport.nl the North European Championship of Formula Renault 2.0 races at Alastaro, Finland, in the programm of the STCC. Can anyone confirm that the STCC will go to Finland this year? I didn't saw that coming, thats for sure......

Don't think that will happen. STCC will go to Våler, Norway, as usual this year but not Finland. Don't they need a special permission from FiA to do so (a national championship could only have 1 race weekend outside its own country)? Maybe if they would do a NEZ championship for the northern European zone out of STCC, but that seems highly unlikely.

Does anyone have news on Tobias Johansson and MB Sport? Will they build a new Merc or use the old one?

That must be mistake. There's a NECup brochure on AKK (Finnish ASN) website: http://www.akk-motorsport.fi/attache...7-16-07153.pdf

According to calendar in it, Alastaro race is "Finnish FR2.0", not STCC... Race promoter's site doesn't mention Swedish tourers either: http://fcr.fi/content/en/11501/37/37.html

btw, there are 9 races in the calendar and there'll be only 8 in the final version, so Alastaro may still be dropped from NECup...

And with Gothernburg getting the 12th spot in the STCC calendar, that one is full too (if they dont drop anyone else).

And another foreign team considering runnig STCC next year, Artman Racing from Estonia with 2 Honda Accords:

http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=1757

SVT is available in Estonia, just as in Finland, right? Which would mean they'd be racing on live TV in their home country, not a bad thing!

The last time I visited Estonia ('07), at least SVT Europa was availible there. I'm unsure if the other channels are availible, maybe if you have satellite dish etc.? Has anyone heard on which SVT-channel the races will be broadcasted on? I assume it's STV24? I hope Artman will race a complete season in STCC, they would do great when they have learned the tracks.
With all respect to the Russian series, but they might wanna have some stronger competition without having to pay bazillions to race in WTCC?

Oh, speaking of foreign teams, any news on the Danish Sturup Raceway-team that was considering STCC for 2008?

Johan, can you put some light on Carrera Cup Scandinavia situation, please. This thread can also refer to CCS and junior tourers, innit?

Well, thats not really Touring Car-related with CC, but shortly:

Not much new, other than that the field will be much larger compared to last year, people are standing in line to get cars, there are simply not enough car out there. The series will run on all races but two as it looks now with STCC.

Cause Anderstorp is a faster and better track? :P

But thats still not the point, last season they said they would have 12 rounds, but it only became 11, this season Gothenburg filled that 12th spot, and still Anderstorp dropps out? So we end up wth 11 rounds again instead of 12.
Is Anderstorp reluctant to host both STCC and WTCC in the same season? When ETCC raced at Anderstorp there where no STCC races either as far as I can remember.

Oh, and on STCC.se the Gothenburg race is listed as 14th of June (which is the saturday), would be good to know what day the race actually is?

About the TV coverage, STCC was this year shown on SVT Europe too (have a friend in Finland who watched it). SVT1/2/24 is only available on pay-per-view sadly. So hopefully STCC will be live on SVT Europe next season, if not they can only watch it live on pay-per-view.
Maybe all you who live out in Europe should go and see if you can tune in SVT Europe somehow.

From what I've understood most of the teams want less than 11 races.

The Gothenburg race will be held on the Saturday, STCC released the wrong date at first.

Why would Anderstorp be reluctant to host both STCC and WTCC, they survive on having races there. Its up to the negotiations.

I don't know about cable tv, but on terrestrial tv SVT Europa isn't free either (and other Swedish channels aren't available). I think there are/was some plans to add extra transmitters/mux/whatever to some Swedish speaking areas in order to broadcast SVT channels but I would cover only a small part of coastal area and I don't know if it will happen...

Might be true. Stippler or no Stippler doesnt matter as long as theres atleast one Audi on the grid.

News from STCC.se and TcT is that one Merc is sold to Germany and the other is still for sale. They wont build any new cars tho sadly and they are now looking for alternatives. 2 new Mercs for 09 maybe? One can always hope.

Mattias Andersson also confirmed he will race the same Alfa this year with a few updates.

Here in Vaasa we have many of the swedish channels available. I have been watching most of the STCC races since 1997 including the legendary supertouring years.
