ptclaus98 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Have the budgets gone up since 2011? I can't understand why Conor Daly doesn't try to get a seat in this series. Holding out, maybe?

a rough guess would say they've gone up by 30% since then (perhaps more at the front), but equally right now a very good deal would be available for the right person.

Renault are apparently keen to fill their flagship grid

I think Conor Daly is trying to find a GP2 drive still, he's testing in Bahrain with Lazarus tomorrow.

In all honesty it's pretty ridiculous for him to be going all out for GP2. It's not out of this world to think Carlin wouldn't take his money, and more likely he'd have better chance of making an F1 grid through good performance in FR3.5 as it is still the better championship.

How? GP2 mirrors F1 much more than 3.5 and has a significantly better field this year.

I can't tell you exactly how, but looking at the names that have graduated from both championships, and what becomes of drivers who don't make it to F1 from either championship, it's clear to me that FR 3.5 is a much safer choice for the rest of his career, and the much better choice for his potential.

Sorry I don't see GP2 having a much better field at all!

As has been the case in the last couple of seasons or more, there are perhaps 2 or 3 potential aces and the rest are journeymen! I'd love to see a GP2 field brimming with real talent as was the case in the category's first 2 or 3 seasons and was also the case with F3000 for right up until the last 2-3 years of that.

WSR for my money has a similar number of hotshots confirmed so far but a greater number of half decent talents.

The tail-enders are comparable I would say.

Money talks and that's the killer or 'deal breaker'.

sorry chunty, day job getting in the way

very pleased to see beitske visser has signed with av. she can obviously drive, and it goes to show that not all late signings need to be uninspiring. hopefully ellinas will confirm a deal before monza too, he'd be a good addition to the front half of the field.

i wonder if the organisers are going to take a pragmatic approach to the appropriately funded driver shortage, and teams being unable to field both cars in some races. they're taking a big enough financial hit by having to transport the whole setup to run just one car as it is, without any penalties being applied or anything like that.

Did Visser do German F3 or Formula Masters? Seems like a bit of a big step if it's the latter, but I remember hearing that shes doing well in testing, so maybe not. Hopefully she breaks the mold.

She did almost 2 years of Formel Masters, during her first season she had a major crash and she was sidelined, but she was winning races. She's a big talent and Red Bull signed her. Then last season with Red Bull in the same team, she was nowhere! A bit too ambitious, I hoped she was going to do Eurocup or Alps.

According to italiaracing in the tests Renault Sport instructed teams to run without the side-skirts and with 500 less rpm. Both part of the measures intented to cut costs for the teams.

Sorry but I think she´ll struggle because it´s a too big step for her, probably she´s going to earn points, but it would be better the Eurocup to show herself already as a title contender.
