Sebring entry list just dropped which explains all the news yesterday - https://press.fiawec.com/assets/file...86613d42ca.pdf
Glickenhaus drivers confirmed as Pla / Dumas / Briscoe. Still 2x TBCs against Alpine. A bit of a surprise that, I just assumed the lineup would carry over, unless they've been poached... |

Anthony Davidson to replace Alan McNish in wec commentary team. I like Anthony, but Alan will be missed as he was a nice balance to Martin Haven rambling and hazarding guesses that weren't based in reality.
MH: Do you think they're changing tires because the wheels are changing shape? AM: No the tires get worn and that's a normal part of a race. Hopefully Anthony doesn't let commentary get too left field lol. |

It certainly implies you can't just rock up in June with a one-off entry. I think we know that BoP requirements will rule that out anyway but this sounds more fundamental.
Maybe as a manufacturer you need to lay some groundwork at WEC level so potential customers can benefit in the future? |

Not sure why the delay but Alpine confirm the same driver lineup for this year - https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/...ver-squad.html

Does the ACO have a contingency plan for race director for the WEC and ELMS races? After the FIA demoted Michael Masi from being F1 race director, they poached Freitas to be one of two rotating race directors for F1. Do they still plan on having Freitas being race director for the WEC and ELMS (at least for races that don't conflict with F1) or will they appoint a new permanent RD?

Why do you think they're rotating in F1?

Because they literally said that, Freitas and Niels Wittich will alternate as F1 Race Director and Herbie Blash will be permanent senior consultant. And race director will have support of an FIA virtual control room to provide more information and tech regs support.
The FIA will likely announce their replacement for Frietas at some point or he may be allowed to do WEC by having Wittich in for any F1 conflicts |

Hadn't looked myself, possible Freitas does WEC duty and Wittich is at F1?
Although for me I would want both there for event 1 of the new system and make sure everything is smooth. I'm sure there will be more mid-week debriefs and breakdown to make sure everyone's eyes are dialed in the same, or damn close at least |

I'm sure they will find a way. I can see Freitas continuing in WEC alongside F1, which is probably one of the reasons they have put two in.
Of course it is a bit of an unknown to rotate the two like that, but they probably can communicate and make sure both are on the same sheet |

More important than the race director change to me was the (re-)introduction of support for Freitas & Wittich. I wonder how much less maligned Masi would be if he had that last season...
It makes sense for "the other" to cover when either one is needed for their original series. I wouldn't want this to be a more permanent arrangement though, the succession planning post-Whiting has been sorely lacking. |

Similar to what happened in Yugoslavia post Tito. When Tito died, the country dissolved (though maybe better overall for the longer term) in only about 10-15 years though bloody civil wars. As far as a united Yugoslavia, that was doomed to fail as Tito had no direct successor, or at least one that was effective.
That being said, we (the UN and NATO) were able to more effectively act against bad actors during the conflicts and such. But still, your point is valid. Granted, Whiting's death was unexpected, but the FIA should've handled finding a permanent replacement better. |

GR Racing skips Sebring. The reason is the situation in Ukraine.

Shame it had to miss out through no fault of it's own, especially as it's due to an invasion with no merits
