Prototype cars now look like the builders read this thread and tried hard to be the winner for the ugliest.

This car is not a prototype, it is a TC (Turismo Carretera), a category of touring cars traditional from Argentina with 80 years old. They use as base the cars sold in Argentina in the 70's to which they then completely modify.
The car of the photo that you published is a Ford Falcon and this is the original. http://www.todofalcon.com.ar/Fotos/Sp22.jpg They are also used Renault Torino, Dodge Polara RT and Chevy coupe 250. http://www.cosasdeautos.com.ar/wp-co...no-Renault.jpg https://ugc.kn3.net/i/origin/http://...1bf6f3f7_o.jpg https://http2.mlstatic.com/franjas-v...2_072015-F.jpg https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turismo_Carretera Quote:
The Super TC 2000 is the only category with official teams of the brands. |

This one looks like it needs to sit a bit taller and have some off-road tires on it and some spares in that hatch. Kinda reminds me of an old version of some of the Dakar "cars" of the last while.
I actually really like this one, it looks like someone had a weird kit GT car in a barn and then saw a picture of a Chaparral and was like "hey, we could do something like that with it!" Do we have names for them? |

The nickname of the car was "La Garrafa" (gas bottle) because the sponsor was Agip and the driver was Andrea Viannini. https://www.google.com.ar/search?biw...k1.1qBYg61isPM |

As far as those DP's, they're not what I would call well put together, in terms of safety or performance. But were debating opinions which is pointless. I like the Touring cars in Argentina.
I was going to post the DW, but it's always been touchy subject! |

The regulations were always very free the first years demanded the use of the front windshield of the road car from which they derived, some years later demanded a minimum height then appeared the egg shape of the roof of some cars and finally nothing and also arrived the spyders. Some of the cars were Pronello-Ford, Berta LR, Torino Liebre MK I,MK II,MK III, Gentile-Chevrolet, Baufer-Chevrolet, Numa-Tornado, Chelco-Chevrolet etc. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rmnsspyhg...onello-ford.JP https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0a/ec...0687ab5533.jpg http://img.lagaceta.com.ar/fotos/gal...1009183114.JPG https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b3/04...296aa12f21.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NBH4iV8xf4...600/baufer.JPG https://www.autodato.com/wp-content/...rd-1969-01.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JgMdC8MyqQ...pz3%5B1%5D.jpg http://www.f1-web.com.ar/galeria/baufer-chevun-1.JPG https://i.pinimg.com/originals/90/13...aa64d3dacc.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d6/e7...9899f8cf27.jpg http://clasicosyespeciales.com.ar/wp.../PANIZZA42.jpg http://sportprototipoargentino.blogs...1971-1972.html These are images of an Argentine film of that time that shows the cars and the atmosphere. https://www.facebook.com/proyectotor...4986883716339/ |

I guess the failed back to front Nissan must be in here, the GTR-LM or whatever it was called. I really hoped that car would work, it was so bonkers.
