Ginaro Zukovsky should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
For me the biggest advantage of the Eurosport player is being able to watch it on a smart TV - no messing about connecting laptops etc. And if the commentary gets boring, you can switch over to the ad-free natural sounds feed and fire up RLM on a phone or laptop. Plus the rewind function, onboards, 24 minutes, French Open and Superbikes!

2014 F1 qualifying was damp so doesn't hold up as comparison.

Race does more yeah but only the last portion of the GP is comparable as that is when they have low fuel. And even then the crap Pirelli tyre management takes off the edge

Also the 2015 F1 cars are a bit faster than last year, not to the LMP1 %, but still

Sorry people have different tastes.
Such analysis is not to everyone's tastes but I would hardly describe Truswell's comments as "trivial". If you're trying to understand the teams' strategies, they're essential. Fair enough if you're not into that kind of thing and you find it boring but at the front of the field, the entire story of the race is about stint lengths, average lap times and time spent in the pits. Races are won and lost on these sums.

Listening to RLM trackside at Silverstone, without Truswell I was completely at a loss as to how the #2 Toyota was in the lead for so long.

Obviously it's about taste, but I have to disagree that his comments are trivial.

I like an occasional bit of stint/timing/pit information and obviously when it's something essential to the flow of the race I want to know of it, but I'm not a fan of being continuously being fed every little bit of tidiest things that's been written in the notebook. It becomes hyper technical - guess I should've used that word instead of trivial - and something that would never pass if he was on TV, not in such amounts. I appreciate the effort he puts into it but it's just dry to me, dry dry dry. Some color is needed.

Anyway just my bit. The rest of the gang is great

Tip for you all.

At Silverstone, FP3 was broadcasted in the application. I heard from a friend that they usually do that to test the broadcasting for qualifying.

My friend even shared with me FP3 onboards of the LMP1s, on that wet track of the moment.

F1 barely improved. At Sepang they were even slower than the 2014 times... Even when they improve, it's just by 0,5s or so.

LMP1s, meanwhile, improved 3s on a green track. This improvement can be up to 5s, on a rubbered in track, going by the Prologue

Yes but WEC's was on a completely green track after rainy FP3. I would guess the qualifing gap is around 6s now. It was over 10s a couple of years ago.

I say this because GP2 poles were 7 to 7,5s slower than F1's, last year(I looled into all dry qualifyings for both: Abu Dhabi, Sochi, Monza, Hockenheim, Austria, Monaco, Barcelona, Bahrain. Only expection were Monaco, Barcelona and Bahrain where GP2s were only 6s, 4s and 5,5s off, respectively. All others were in the 7-7,5s). GP2's pole, on a dry Silverstone, was 1.40.4. So, F1's pole would be, at best, around 1.33.0

On a rubbered in track, I think Porsche's pole could be at 1.38.0. So, even if F1 2015 improve 1s at Silverstone(which is a stretch already), that would mean only 6s.

If I were the ACO and FIA, I'd try and schedule a practice session before noon, because that's about the biggest significant dry slot until Saturday.

Other than that, the teams will just have a bunch of notes that don't mean much.

It'd be helpful if FP3 is dry or has a big dry slot in it, but most recent forecast that I've seen doesn't look very encouraging for Friday afternoon. Maybe bring back the morning warm up or "Happy Hour" pre-race practice session? The WEC have done away with it for almost all sprint races, and only for LM is it a regular feature now.

No I was only joking I actually agreed with the point I bolded yesterday. I agree that it's a better deal although I'd pay extra just to get away from the awful (except Marin Haven and a couple of others) Eurosport commentary.

That said I do think the WEC coverage offered several on boards, I tried to view them via the App at Silverstone (no 4G at the circuit with the most modern facilities in the UK in 2015? Seriously!?) and I'm sure I counted something in the region of 10 I could choose from. The little circuit map with the positions of the cars was cool too. That said, it is hugely disappointing that they used to stream the practices for free and now they don't seem to when you are paying for it, if things don't change I won't be renewing my subscription for 2016.

I used GiffGaff (O2) and Three, seemed to get full signal strength 3G everywhere but just wouldn't jump to 4G. I'm glad I didn't get the portable hotspot device I was looking at now! Anyway, sorry I'll keep it on topic from now on!

This has been briefly discussed already but didn't see a clear answer yet (as far anyone would know).

WEC offical website:

"For the first 4500 people who pre ordered their tickets, there is the opportunity to get an autograph, grab a ‘selfie’ or just shake hands with their favourite drivers during the autograph session"

Was this also @ Silverstone? As far as I know the previous years everyone could enter the Pit Walk/Autograph sessions on Saturday?

The FP3 session should be dry!

At Silverstone i think it was the first 2000 tickets were eligible for the pitwalk?

Unless someone at the track is filming the big screens then there won't be anything.

Loving this pace from the new guys in the #19 Porsche.
